Xcaret, Tulum, or Chakanaab?

Hello!
My dad, sister (age 21), and myself (age 23) are going on the Jan. 4 cruise. We are trying to decide which excursion in Cozumel to do and have narrowed it down to these three. If anyone has any information on these, could you please share it with us? Like, what did you like (or not like) about it? One question in particular that we have is how long does take to get to these sites? I woud hate to spend the whole time traveling and then not have time to enjoy the actual excursion.

I have been to Tulum once and Xcaret twice. Tulum is ruins and it is very fascinating, it can be very hot because you basically tour around with a tour guide. Xcaret is a natural playground where you swim in an underground freshwater cave. You can swim with dolphins, snorkel, sun, climb across a rope bridge and many other things. It is more of a natural waterpark. It depends what you want to do. I don't know how far it is from the ship because I traveled there from Cancun. I don't know anything about the third choice. Have fun!

you will spend a heck of a lot of time traveling to Xcaret or to Tulum if you chose one of these options. Chanakaab is very easy to get to and you could do this on your own, and would be pretty inexpensive to do...

Went to Chakanaab in Oct. We all had a wonderful time, the place is lovely and the water is great ... about a 10 min taxi ride. None of us were up to the "trip" to Tulum or Xcaret. Not much of a "beach" at Chankanaab if that is what you're looking for. We did the "swim with dolphins", a great experience. Missed the SeaLion show, though others said the $5.00 a person to see the show was well worth the money. Soda/Bottled water were very inexpensive.

We are not too concerned about a beach, but we would like to snorkel. How was the snorkeling at Chakanaab and Xcaret? Also, what were the ruins at Xcaret like? I know it is nothing like Tulum, but were they interesting?
