Xbox 360

HERE a list of what each system comes with and the differences between them.

It's really a good idea to get the premium system rather then the core system and if you see the differences in each side-by-side (at the link above), you'll see it's worth the $100 more.

HERE's the list of what games will work with the Xbox 360.

Thanks for the link for that list - I went through it and not many of the games we have are on the list and our XBOX is on the frits - DH thought "oh, we will get the new XBOX360 and all our games will play on it" I'm so glad I found this out before spending any money on this system. I hate it when old games don't play on the new systems - that's a lot of money to just throw away.

I think we are going to wait for the Playstation 3.

The new system is so more advanced than the old. It would make sense most of the old games wouldn't work. My husband is keeping his old xbox and getting a new one so he wouldn't run into the problems with what games would and would not work.

Thanks guys for the information, I haven't even thought about this, if DH wants one he will have to buy his own. How much are these systems anyone?

Core system - $299.00

Expanded or whatever they are calling it system - $399.00

FWIW I went to my Walmart at about 1 PM today and there was already a line formed. I was wondering why all these men were sitting in chairs- then I saw the sign for the XBOX games!! I'm in Baton Rouge and my WalMart said it will have 35 premiums and 15 regulars. Dh wanted one at first, but there is no way we are paying that for a game system. We'll just keep our little PS2! Good luck to those wanting one, though!

What are good web sites to try for one tonight?
Thanks! :flower:

Good question, sounds alot warmer than lawn chairs outdoors in Michigan! Anyone know?

Here is an update of what it is like where I live

Call Dh when I read the above reply about Walmart. I left work and was the 31st one in line at our Best Buy. Dh releived me shortly after. I went in the store and was told managment will not tell how many will be for sale at Midnight but the girl whispered to me that it was suppose to be between 30-35 and the would have the same amount available at opening tomorrow morning. So DH might be there overnight. Ther is just no way I would do this for him or the kids. It is rainy and cold. I am not talking drizzle rain it si raining ~ pouring and COLD!!

Unbelievable!!! I was looking on Ebay and WOW, all the XBOX 360 have tons of bids and they are NOT going cheap - $500-$900.00 - WOW!!!

I understand it's new and Christmas and all but I would NOT wait for hours for one either - DS & DH will have to wait until early next year when they are in the stores and everyone is NOT fighting over them.

We have had my son's preordered at GameStop for weeks now and we got a call this past Friday to say they would not be getting enough to fill the orders and that it would be the first of the year before there would be more. He's 15 and very understanding so he wasn't really upset for which I'm very thankful!!!

Well, I went and checked things out for my DH. Super Walmart that was selling at Midnight had a line of 40 people at 5:00p!!!

Then on the way home, I check my local Walmart that will sell them at 7:00a and they had a sign that they only had 4 premium and 10 core.

Then also on the way home I stop to get gas at BJs and they had 5 I could see through the lock they keep them in. The customer service lady said they'll sell them at 9:00a when they open.

It's going to be tough to get them unless your a young determined teen who is willing to wait in a long line for 7 or more hours!!!

DH should have pre-ordered back in August!

Just got back from giving DH a break to eat and use the bathroom. After he ate I ran to Starbucks for him. While I was gone the Geek squad at Best Buy hit and gave everyone in line a t-shirt. I thought that was nice of them. DH is now 30th in line. One guy 2 ahead gave up and went home. Hehas about 10 behind him.

I am sorry but this is nuts. While I do not mind doing the break thing I refuse to stand out there the whole time. DH is wacko...but I love him.

We preordered ours at EB, and was SUPPOSE to get one tommorrow. Now Microssft is only sending our store 24, instead of the 54 promised. We are 34 on the list. This same store was just held up at gunpoint for two of the systems this morning. The thief was apprehended, thank goodness. Our Walmart only has 2 of the premium units, and 8 of the core. Good luck to you all!!

Just wondering how our Wal-Mart and other people waiting in line are doing :)
I feel for those who are outside...I know it is still cold and STILL raining here...

DH has to be at work at 7 AM tomorrow and will be picking his Box up during his lunch break. He is a manager at GameStop, but was the first to have his pre-ordered from FYE when he was the manager there. So...I know he will have visions of XBOX360's dancing in his head tonight :)

Good luck and here is a sprinkle of pixie dust for those who are waiting!

Ebay is crazying with these Xbox systems, there were at least 175 pages of them for sell, and already selling over $1100. Sometimes I wonder if this is really what christmas is all about

People are looking for the quick cash. I really do wonder how many of the people who ran out and bought them last night/this AM really wanted it, or just to turn it for a few hundred dollars. It really stinks for the parent who can't say no or doesn't want to say no to their kid(s). $1000 for something that will be plentiful the week after xmas.

Another poster on here said Microsoft is probably doing the shortage thing to hpye the machine. This is no doubt true. I waited for my original Xbox, and got a GREAT deal on it a full year after it was out. I will do the same with the 360. A year from now, when everyone is clamoring over the PS3, the 360's will be cheaper and come with a free game or 2... :earsboy:

No offense to anybody spending $1800 to get one for your kid -- but honestly --- if you have that hard of a time saying

NO DEAR, YOU ARE JUST GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT 4 WEEKS WHEN I CAN BUY YOU ONE FOR $400.

Then you are getting what you deserve on EBAY. I really wish you mega happiness with your $1800 video game unit.

I mean honestly, for a $300 fee, I'll be happy to teach any parent here how to say "No" to a child. I have lots of practice. Just send me a PM. :)

That's crazy!!! Absolutely crazy!!!

I can say "no" to my child, I already did, told him Santa couldn't get the XBOX 360 this year because it's new and there is not enough to go around - told him not to look for it until his birthday in March and by then I'm sure it'll be the PS3 that he wants.

You took the words out of my mouth. As this is the budget board, I even question the $400+ (you need those expensive games too).
