How sad. I am sorry. I hope things return to normal for you soon. The school district should pay your salary anyhow -- this is a catastrophic event that caused you to miss work time, not a sick day or a comp day.

Where do you live? I live in Pensacola, not there right now, and the schools will be out for about a month.

So sorry to here that cati. I hope that it gets fixed in a hurry. Do you mind if I get a little nosey? 2 questions.

Aren't you in NC?
Didn't your trampoline hit your house in the storm?

The other night, DH & I were watching the news. They were showing where rain & tornados whipped through. There was mention of a "neighbors" trampoline slamming into the house. I told DH, "hey, somebody on the DIS had that happen to them too." He gave me that look, as to say "you spend too much time there":p

Again, best of luck to you & I hope everything gets fixed in a hurry. P & PD

I'm a little curious as to why your school district is making you use your comp time, after they tell you to not report. Espicially since other schools in your area are open, and thus not forcing employees to take time off. Are you represented by a union? Is there some sort of dispute resolution procedure?

Cati may have gone to bed (like I should be doing), but I'll tell you that unions are few and far between in North Carolina. It is a right to work state and teachers and other state employees are not represented by a union. For the most part, the only unionized industries here are things that are national, such as airlines. The only state-funded organization I know of that is unionized is the North Carolina Symphony.

Our schools took 2 days off, Thursday and Friday. Thursday was just rain all day, nothing bad. Friday was clear, blue skies. Go figure.

Public schools are closed here until further notice, only about a third of the schools have power. Catholic schools are also closed for a while. We still have widespread power outages, but we are nowhere as bad off as Gulf Shores and the Panhandle
