I have supported several teenagers in getting replacement birth certs and its usually an easy process. To get them from the local register office its normally about £10. Ive also supported a few who have needed to get birth certs from elsewhere (not local but in UK) and if I remember correctly it could be done online and again the cost was similar.
Your local register office should be able to advise

As for passport Im sure a nurse can sign as its a professioal job

Sorry, I can't help with the first part of your question but I really hope you manage to get it sorted

But, a nurse can definately sign for a passport application as my mum is a nurse and she has signed multiple times :thumbsup2

Thanks for your replys :].

Replaced DBFs mum's B.C no bother, £14 so it was fine.
Got a phone number for the Edinburgh office or something and he called and his birth certificate is on its way :goodvibes.

. . . And thanks for re-assuring me that a nurse can sign, Thank god for my sister being so educated haha.

Hi Rachey

Glad you got it sorted. For future reference (and hopefully you don't need this ;)) extract registered certificates for any births/deaths/marriages registered in Scotland can be ordered up from any Council registry office. I bet you feel relieved.

Did you report the lost ones as missing?

Is this just for DBF and his mum? As I don't think a relative can countersign an application.

No, it can't be a relative. The OP didn't mention the connection when asking the original question.

No I didn't report the Birth Certificates as lost because I have recently moved out of the family home and into a flat with DBF. . . So it's gotta be around here somewhere but I cant find it ANYWHERE. . . And I need to get his passport sorted ASAP because we are flying down to Glasgow in March so I need to book flights etc (He doesn't have any photo ID, yet still gets served booze anywhere he goes, lucky sod!)

You can still book your flights so long before you get the passports. I booked flights 3 years ago and DD's passport had expired. It was her baby one so I had to get a new photo taken and everything, but I booked flights about 7 months before I got around to sorting the passports. Just in case you are waiting to sort the ID before you book - you don't want to miss a good flight deal if one comes up for your dates. ;)

My sister is no relation to DBF because we are not married so it is fine - As its his passport we are getting not mine. Yes ? Yes :thumbsup2

As for his mums Birth Certificate, We need hers because DBF was born outside the UK so its more proof that his family are born and from the UK.

Glad you got sorted out. :)
