Over on the Jim Hill Media website, they have a list of the "experiences" that will be part of the X-Pass program.

I hear that Jim Hill is "Hit or Miss" on a lot of his news but it's interesting to read any way.

LINK

2 things to note.

1. There will be more X-Pass attractions then current FP attractions.
2. X-pass is expected to slightly increase the wait time in standby.

If this in fact an addition to fastpass, I honestly don't see how this will be of great significance. The rides listed for xpass are rides that generally don't have long lines and aren't the big hitters. E.g the "mountains" at MK, Soarin', EE, etc.

I believe the rides listed for Xpass in that article are in addition to the big hitters. He mentions at the end of the article that there will be certain safeguards in place that would limit a guest utilzing the new xpass system so that they could only reserve a spot on 2/3 of the "mountain rides". IE, you could only use xpass for 2 of space/splash/big thunder mountain. The normal fast pass rides would be part of xpass, these others are just an addition to that list not in lieu of.

Finally - I won't have to wait in line for "Journey into Imagination with Figment" with this new system.

It's an OCD disboards planner's dream come true.

But, alas, this is not for me.

That does make more sense, perhaps I need some more :surfweb:. I'll reserve judgement until I see how Disney implements this and what restrictions they place on it. Also, as mentioned, this will require a fair amount of planning which I'm not sure how many people will be up for. DIS is a small sub-set of the general guest population. I realize most here will be all over it, just not sure how it will play with everyone else.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting article. So you will not be able to book what you want and basically has to choose between popular rides. I also wonder how many FP you will be allowed, probably this will come with different Xpass categories. Is it me or this is pretty much version of passbook or whatever it was called when you were buying number of categorized rides?

Interesting thought.

This could be the return of E-ticket designations. E-E-tickets if you will.

All I can hope for is they don't try to implement a new system until after our trip in August. I know the fastpass late return is no longer an option, I can live with that. I have waited for so long for this trip and am really getting overwhelmed with all the changes. Sorry had to vent...

According to the article, it won't roll out until 2013.

The hope for most guests (I think), would be that non-participation wouldn't have a significant negative effect on your vacation.

I can relate to that. I am glad to hear that XPass will come in 2013, a lot of time to learn what animal we are dealing with. I was planning to move offsite, I would like to know in advance if I am making mistake and if it will affect my experience.

Still need to absorb everything, but some of it seems a bit excessive. Adding xPASS to so many things will require more queue reworking, more CMs, etc.

However, I do know that Tomorrowland Speedway was on the prototype screens from several months ago - although it was only 1 of four attractions listed.

And they DO appear to be building another queue at The Seas. I just haven't seen any queue being necessary there.

When they swapped the IASW queue around, did they leave a provision for a second entrance queue?

xPASS for shows make more sense - seat them first, so you don't need additional CMs, just a corral to hold the guests.

I fully expect there will be limitations on what you can do in a single park/day. No more than X E-tickets, etc.

I'm not sure how I feel about this, part of me says it might be a great thing while the other part of me says it's too much planning. As it is I've gone from planning out meals for the DDP to getting the QSDP so I didn't have to plan my day around where I'm eating. Having to live by a clock on vacation isn't a really attractive feature. And yes, we live by a clock as far as our FP return times go, but this seems so much more planned out that I'm not sure I'd like it very much. We're definitely more of the go with the flow type, we never know what the moods of the kids will dictate and where we'll end up. If we absolutely had to be at a certain park on a certain day to ride a specific ride at a specific time.... ugh, gives me a headache just thinking about it. LOL

I think you will still be able to do rides without Xpass, just SB line. I still wonder however if regular FPs will stay or XPass will replace them completely.

If this new system will basically "trick" people into spreading their time out riding other less popular rides then it is a good system. If the reservation system does not allow you to book xPasses for Space Mountain 6 times in one day then there is no issue. Instead of grabbing a fast pass they have an Xpass and have the same limitations as a fast pass.

But if people get carried away planning and get passes for Figment and COP then they will want to go over to those attractions at their Special Time and leave more room on the big ticket rides.

I'm sure the software will take some tweaking once it is done and once they find out how people are abusing the system.

Regular fast passes will stay but apparently there will be less available throughout the day.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply you couldn't ride standby still, only limitation on how you can use xPASS. It may even limit what you can get a FP for (i.e. xPASS or FP, not both).

I could see the potential of xPASS replacing Fastpass long-term, but probably not for a while.

I am probably what you would call an OCD planner for my trips. However, having to plan rides at certain times (not just in which order), is going to give me a migraine! I will reserve my judgements until we see how it really rolls out and tweaks are made.

It's not like I have a trip planned at the moment anyway... :rolleyes1
