X-mas 2010 - outta here. . . But where

Okay - I ready to bolt out of NY. X-mas is a little overwhelming and it's becoming too materialistic. I'd rather buy a few things (have 3 kids - 3 1/2; 10 yo and 13 yo), ship them offsite and do x-mas somewhere else. Get away from the hustle and bustle. I have gone to WDW about 3 or 4 times on xmas and the week following. It is truly beautiful but way too crowded, which is why I go other times of year. For those "seasoned" travellers -- any suggestions to plot my escape for next year.... it would be a great present to brainstorm a trip..... I have cruises planned (DCL, of course) and WDW coming up this January and then again in August, but I want to do something (not so expensive too) with the kids for next x-mas. We own DVC so we are used to 1BR but I need a location that is fun and not just sitting around . .. where could that be. . I keep coming back to WDW!!!! S.O.S.

Disneyland! You can include Los Angeles and San Diego in the trip, too, depending on how long you want to go for.

Do you want warm or cold?

What about heading down to Charleston or Savannah? Cape May, NJ and stay in one of their Victorian Inn's? How about getting a cabin somewhere in Upstate or in Vermont? Do you ski? Spend a few days at a ski resort?

If you want to stay within driving distance, how about Montreal? It would be like a mini trip to Paris!

Or...Williamsburg, VA (Great Wolf Lodge has the indoor water park.) They also have a lot of other great timeshare resorts with beautiful indoor pools.

Or...Washington DC or Philadelphia?

If you like winter weather...how about Stowe, VT? Beautiful, quinessential New England town.

Or...a farther drive and a little warmer....Hilton Head, South Carolina?

I would look into a non-disney cruise or an all inclusive resort. We really like the Iberostar resorts for a family vacation. We really like the Mexico as there's lots to see/do, especially if you have an active family. Another family favorite is Punta Cana.
