I'm totally new to all this!!
We are wyndham points owners on the presidential level. We have wyndham club plus points. We are enrolled in rci.
here's the rub....
I booked (I think) Disney's Saratoga through rci using my wyndham points. The vacation is confirmed, but no follow up emails or points showing as deducted for the trip. Should be 105,000 for a 1bd. In july.
Also my "home" resort is bonnet creek.
Am I going to get screwed and lose this confirmation?
Do my wyndham points really show my home resort?

I'm just nervous because I have never used rci exchange before.

Thank you!

Thank you!

I would call RCI to confirm. They have a policy that if your home timeshare is too close to a DVC resort you are not allowed to book. I'm fairly certain if your home resort is Bonnet Creek you cannot book DVC.

I was afraid of that.
I read somewhere that wyndham some how bypassed that area restriction that disney has. Especially wyndham points. Not so much weeks.
I've never bothered to stay anywhere non wyndham. But all of orlando is booked!

That restriction does NOT apply to Wyndham, and some other timeshares who trade in RCI using a generic points grid. You can use your WBC points anywhere in RCI, including right next door at WDW DVC resorts.

Your problem is somewhere else. Call Wyndham's RCI desk at 800-572-0931 and find out where the problem lies (if there is a problem).

Good to know.

JimMIA thank you!
I'm hoping there is no issue and DVC is just slow to confirm.
Like I said I've never used my RCI account. We are very happy to travel just wyndham. I will be sure and let y'all know how this works out.

My vacation is still sitting confirmed on rci website.
Fingers crossed!!!!!!

Did you DEPOSIT points from Wyndham into RCI? And did you pay the exchange fee?

If you did an ongoing search without depositing points first, that may be the issue. That is easily resolved by making the deposit, but if you wait too long, that confirmation could go away. I think you only have 48 hours to finalize everything after you match and confirm acceptance of the match.

You really need to make that phone call ASAP, because these things are time-limited.

I have 234,000 in rci via my club wyndham plus points.
My presidential status also allows me to view and book rci. If I do not have enough points rci will pull from my wyndham points in that calendar year. As far as my understanding goes
you are right however I absolutely need to call rci and double check!

Once your exchange is 100% completed, you will receive a written confirmation from DVC. You can then call DVC MS and make any requests you may have, ask questions, etc. That comes by snail mail and will take a while.

I think it also takes 2-3 days for RCI to take the points out of your account for the exchange. It sounds like you've got everything in order, and it will all sort out in the long run -- but don't leave it to chance.

And you know you'll also have to pay $95 to DVC at checkin...right?

Yes I saw that! I also already paid an exchange fee etc. All together 277 out of pocket.

I figured there would be fees. We expect that especially with disney. :)

FWIW, I've booked into Disney several times using Wyndham points deposited into RCI. I have never gotten a confirmation letter from Disney. If you give it a few weeks for it to hit the DVC system, you can call directly to DVC member services, tell them you're exchanging into DVC via RCI and they'll give you a DVC confirmation number. The $95.00 exchange fee is payable on check in.

That's very encouraging!!!!!
I'm looking at my rci account now. The vacation is confirmed. But again no points deducted yet.
Dvc is 105,000 points plus fees
I've paid fees (minus the 95 at check in)
Just waiting for the points to come out.
FYI I booked this on June 4th. So I figured that the points would be deducted.
I deposited another 120,000 today, that were going to expire.
I hope that this vacation will turn out positive and I'll learn how to do this more efficiently!

You will not get a confirmation from DVC though you might get a booklet with your name on it and the incredibles on the front. If so that will include your info including the DVC confirmation number which you'll need to link it to your My Disney Experience account and make fast passes earlier. You could also use it to make dining reservations at 180 plus 10 days out but it sounds like you're past that if the exchange is in July. As Jim said, that restriction does not currently apply to systems that are completely points like Wyndham, Worldmark, Bluegreen or Hilton but apparently will apply to systems that are weeks first and points second if the weeks ownership is within the 30 miles radius. Go to your RCI account and click to resend the confirmation, that should get you the additional info you need. It should include DVC's phone number but it might not depending (RCI weeks system does include the number but RCI's points system normally doesn't). If it doesn't, call RCI to get the number. If you get the booklet I mentioned and don't need to add the DP or have specific requests, you likely don't need to call DVC at all as you can add basic requests on advanced check in. DVC will not change your reservation in any way and if you do the Dining Plan, you'll have to do 7 nights for everyone visiting during the week.

Thank you Dean!!!
RCI is a new concept to me! I haven't stayed on disney property in many years.
I'm excited that I found a week at Disney on short notice!

You are welcome. You can also call DVC to get the confirmation #. They usually get the RCI info on the following Tuesday unless things have changed.

Did you ever call Wyndham/RCI?

Yes I called wyndham yesterday afternoon. I spoke with the RCI/vacation planning department. I am confirmed and they did deduct my points! He informed me that I may never receive a confirmation from SSR, and to call them at their 800-800-**** (I can't remember the number) and they will give me my confirmation number. I can then set up a dining plan etc. He also mentioned that I had to give the names of all guests staying so that everyone gets a magic card? Not sure on that one actually, because the last time we went to a park we stayed at Reunion.
So I'd like to say this trip is a go....but I'll not celebrate until I'm in the disney system, and I can see it on my disney app. :earboy2:
