Well, after trying to trade my parents week with II for Grand Vista (with little luck), we settled on Wyndham Palms Resort & Country Club. We got a 3 bedroom lock out, and from what I understand Wyndham is very close to WDW. Anyone have any opinions on their Wyndham stays, or suggestions for my stay?? thanks so much..........

Not sure if the threads are still out there, but there was a LOT of information a couple of years ago here on the DIS boards. At the time you could get a 2 bedroom for under $100 on Hotel Kingdom and it was kind of the Cypress Pointe, as far as popularity, of it's day.

The grounds are fabulous and we were very pleased with the unit as well. Nicely appointed, well maintained, and lots of room. In fact, I believe the 2 bedroom is more than 1,000 sq ft which is larger then the living area of our first house. I consider this to be a "deluxe" resort, comparable to the Disney home away from home vacation club units.

Another thing we liked was a very short drive to the Disney gate, down 192 and then to the left, maybe a mile or two.

A couple of things we didn't like. Very large, although there were a couple of quiet pools, the main pool was a long walk from from our unit. Also, there aren't nice walking paths to the main pool, just the main road of the development.

No real gift shop with souvenir type merchandise, just a golf pro shop.

No restaurant, at least at that time, just a bar/lounge that served some food. There is a pool bar at the main pool that had pretty good food.

Also, if you have any video game age kids, the arcade is a couple of machines stuck in a hallway.

Little to no grounds or pool theming except for the fact that's it's a country club.

Overall, for the price, we thought the unit was great, but were not as happy with the rest of the resort.

We were there 2 years ago, and loved it. We started off in a 3 bedroom lockout, and actually downgraded to a 2 bedroom; the lockout was so big my DW was afraid of losing track of the kids!

I really liked the lockout. We didn't do much at the resort, but went to one of the pools for a while; it was right next to our building.

We were there a couple of years ago too! We liked it. The rooms are amazing!! Huge, with big screen tv's. Had everything we needed (except for a blender, which our "rep" went and got for us to use for the week!). We found most of the staff to be very personable (except for front desk, could have used a little more happiness from them). We also didn't like the small pools. Don't expect much in the pool dept. But we were there in October, and most of the time had the pool to ourselves. Other than that, we would stay there again. For the price we got it for, it was a steal. Oh ya and only 10 minutes to disney at the MOST!

We stayed at the resort in Nov 2004 in a 3 bdrm house and loved it!! Would go back anytime! Our little kids enjoyed the playground, the bigger kids the movie theater and arcade. We didn't use the resort pool much as the house had its own but they did enjoy it.(it' :goodvibes s very large) The location is great, as mentioned not more than 10 min to Disney, close to grocery stores and other attractions.
Hope this helps! :goodvibes
