Wyndam Palms or Cypress Pointe?

I recently booked a room for Pop Century for $55.00/nt. I am now thinking of reconsidering. Mayby I should rent a car and stay at either Wyndam Palms or Cypress Pointe. The food at the food court at PC seems rather expensive. And since, I am taking 2 eleven yr olds I may have to stop at the store and get some food.
The cost of renting a car seems to be cheaper than a town car.
I have used Mears shuttle in the past but, I don't want to wait around this time for the delay to get to where we will be staying.
Would like to get some input on the pros and cons of these 2 resorts. Which resort is better ? The price of the two is about the same. Thanks in advance.

I have visited/toured both but stayed at neither. Wyndham Palms is newer and a bit more upscale, on a brand new golf course. Cypress Pointe is more conveniently located, especially so if you plan to visit Universal or Sea World, since WP is west of WDW. Both offer similar amenities otherwise.

I posted links to some websites for you to compare them, on this thread. BTW, I forgot to mention it on theother thread: Both of them have front desk services 7 days a week. Enjoy, wherever you end up! :)

The Wyndham Palms should cost around $95 for a one BR and the Cypress Pointe should be around $65 for a one BR on Hotel Kingdom for early February. Both may be more expensive than your $55 rate at the Pop Century.

It comes down to an onsite versus offsite decision doesn't it? Onsite, you have the use of Disney bus transportation. Offsite, you have more flexibility with the car rental, especially for food purchase, preparation and cost. And, you have the use of washer/dryer at the offsite lodging don't you?

The towncar, which will cost approx. $100 round trip gives the flexibility of the grocery stop no matter where you go. But, you may have a rental car rate that favorably compares to the towncar rate.

Wyndham Palms Resort definitely requires the use of a rental car. As Lisa P said, it is very nice. And, as she said, Cypress Pointe gives closer proximity to Universal, but again, you need the rental car to do that with convenience.

If I were doing it, especially with two kids, I would rent the car and then eat offsite to save money. Publix is great to save on breakfast foods no matter where you stay, unless you are going to HIFS, where the breakfast is free for kids under 12.

I chose Cypress Pointe over Wyndham because of the pool area. My kids love and spend a lot of time in the pool and the one at Cypress Pointe just seemed more fun. I was able to get a 2 bedroom on Hotel Kingdom for $65.99 a night which I thought was a steal.

After staying in 2 bedroom condo's, we could never go back to a conventional hotel room, on or off site!! The $$$ we save on food is substantial. Even if you decide to go out to dinner and take home what you can't finish, you always have a way of heating and eating when you have a kitchen.

We stayed at HIFS a few years ago and really disliked it. It didn't feel much bigger than a hotel room chopped up in different sections. We felt extremely cramped, but then we are spoiled now! Space-wise, can't be compared to a two bedroom villa.

Good luck in whatever you decide!

Jenn
