ok with all the hype about this property I checked it out and it looks beautiful..Now we are originally booked at Vistana Village for 5 nites and AKL for the last 3 nites. However, we can get the 3br condo at Wyndham Palms for less than half of the total cost for the other 2. So I have a few questions for anyone who has been there..We like a "resort" feel and I don't want to feel like we are intruding if we use the common areas, the pool, theatre, etc.. Also is it really as close to the parks as they say? There's not a whole lot of info so anything you can share is appreciated.. We have 3 kids, 7mos, 2 & 5, is it suitable for kids.
Thanks,
Laura

MOMTOMOOTOO,

I know how confusing it is trying to choose between properties - I was in the same position a few months back. From what I've heard Vistana Villages is a lovely property. However, we stayed at Wyndham Palms last month, and throughly loved it. It definitely has that "resort" feel - the facilities are for use by everyone - you just use whatever you want. That includes the huge heated pool, hot tub, clubhouse, movie theatre, fitness centre (bright and big with brand new exercise machines - I was so surprised), kids' playground, tennis courts, etc. Our daughters are 7 and 5 and didn't want to come home - my 7 year old announced that she is going to live there when she grows up! There were lots of families there when we were staying at the property and it's a very relaxed atmosphere. It really is as close to the parks as they say - we were about 10 minutes from the condo to the parking lots at Disney - the entrance to WDW is just two exits down 192 from the property. We got to the parks early in the morning and stayed until around 1:30-2:00, then headed back to the property for a short break and swim in the pool for the kids and went back to the parks for a couple of hours. Anyhow, good luck with your decision and whatever you choose I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time...

mom......

when are you planning your vacation?

we are going to be staying at both properties in the next couple of months. wyndham palms....at the end of this week and vv in june. we did check out the vist villages last dec and were so impressed. we toured a 3 bdrm unit in dec. ...absolutely beautiful.

after our stay at the wyndham palms i would be glad to try and compare them for you.

i do think mousegirls' trip report has us even more excited about the wyndham palms than we were when we first book there. thanks again mousegirl!!!!!

We are going frrom 5/17/- 5/25 and I am really leaning towards Wyndam Palms. The total price for the 8 nites incl tax is $645.12 for the 3 br. I really did not want to change resorts midstay and the VV was not available the entire trip. So I think if we switch to the AKL we will be really cramped. We stayed there last year and loved it but with the new baby I think we will prefrer the extra room, anyway we have a PS for BOMA (a must do for DH) so we can always hang out for a time at the AKL.

Mousegirl, can I email you with a few extra questions.. let me know?

Momtomootoo,

Of course, please do send me an email - I'd be happy to try and answer any other questions you have.

Mousegirl, I was unable to email you..check your PM
Thanks.

Ok, this place sounds great!! What website give you the best rates??

We are officiallay booked at Wyndham Palms..Thanks for all the help, I am sure ut will be lovely..and with the e-nights gone I feel our decision was best for us. I even booked for Thanksgiving week..The money we saved on lodging for May will cover the cost for November..I'm so excited. I'll be sure to post a full review.

Wyndham Palms IS awesome. I took a tour of it during my trip in April and my son was in absolute awe of it and begged to come back. The concept is amazing. I will post a few pictures in a few day of my trip and my full report.

Anyone who wants anymore info just PM me!

I can't help feeling that people are confusing the two Wyndham Palms. Please note that the vacation home/condo resort to the west of Disney is now being renamed after Wyndham Palms hotels successfully sued the builder/developer for copyright infringement. Pleae don't mix them up.

Ok now I'm confused. Are we all talking about the same place?? I am looking into this place for next Feb when I need a place for 6. The prices from the 1st4floridacondos website look really good! Littleducksmom let us all know how this place is, OK!

dont be confused singitalto.....the websites that you looked at are for the condos not a wyndham hotel. i havent heard about the name change.......i'll have to let you know about that when we get back......but i could understand why they would have to change the name......as my dh thought it was wyndham place too, before i explained that it wasnt. anyways........i'll let ya know when we get back how the place is........altho i truly dont anticipate any problems.

singitalto,
I got my rates for Wyndam Palms at closesttodisney.com. That's where I got a $55 a night rate and the people for closesttodisney are super friendly and efficient in replying to emails and telephone calls.

Hi,
Wyndham Palms is still at the moment Wyndham Palms,
The Palms is a completely different resort, If you booked WP thats what your going to get, and you will really enjoy it. The facilities are amazing and the accommodation is superb, Enjoy!!!

Wyndham Palms confusion:

This is the little bit I know about WP and someone correct me if I am wrong here.

The Wyndham Hotel and Spa is in downtown Disney owned by the Wyndham Hotel nationwide hotel chain Then there is the Wyndham Palms condo/villa/homes resort west of the Animal Kingdom This will be renamed Windsor Palms because the Wyndham Hotel chain has sued them for wrongful name.

The Palms Resort is another condo/villa/homes property across the street from the WP property.

I just book Wyndham Palms 3BR condo for winter break, presidents week 2003, for $85 night. We have 6 of us and are splitting this 3 ways, so I think this is quite a deal.

I am looking forward to trip reports from you all!!!:D
