This is our first family visit to Disney!! I'm so pumped.:cool1::cool1: I called yesterday and booked the 5 of us at the FW Cabins. I'm now questioning myself and wondering if I should change it to 2 rooms at either CSR, POR, or CBR. The 2 rooms isn't that much more in the grand scheme of things!!

We are booked for Nov 13-20 and our kids ages will be 8, 5, and 3 1/2 if that matters.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks!!

I would personally go to POR or CSR if I had the choice, however, FW Cabins have never really interested me. It has always felt like a better location for those that want to cook a little bit on their own and what not....but that's my personal view and preference. POR is my favorite resort on property. It has an amazing food court, great theming, your kids will love Yehaa Bob in the lounge at night, great activities like fishing and boating and biking, and its just so serene and relaxing. I have never stayed at CSR, however, it does appeal to me, but i can't get past the convention resort idea. I didn't care for CBR at all. It's laid out very awkwardly, I didn't find the food court that appealing and you only get double beds as apposed to the POR now putting in Queens and CSR already has queens. That's my take. Enjoy!

I'm thinking one of those you might be able to have 5 in a room - not sure since I usually stay value.
the big question is do you want to cook/six meals or eat out the whole time
if you are eating out then you might want to look at a value suite too

I think the cabins only have 1 bathroom, while getting 2 rooms would get you 2 bathrooms. That is huge for us!

POR sleeps five in one room. I would really consider that.

The cabins don't have the Disney feel for me. And the transportation is a bus system to the bus or boat and then another bus or the boat itself. I wouldn't want to spend that much time just trying to get out of my resort.

Thanks BOSCOV for the heads up on the bedding in the CBR, it was my least fav of them.

Reddy, I know POR allows 5 with the Murphy, but I don't think I could handle one room with all of our luggage plus the 5 of us. I don't like the idea of having to go to bed when they do.

numberonenole, I never even considered the bathroom advantage.

This is why I love this board!

Anyone else care to chime in??

We like the extra space two rooms provides, especially with the kids, bathrooms are not that big of a deal cause we arent all showering and rushing in the morning. The location of FW is a camp ground and it does look like a camp ground. But its Disney so its the cleanest well kept camp ground you will ever see. I dont know if I would go for two rooms with kids you might not get rooms that connect. have you looked at the family suites at the value resorts those are awesome looking to me

This is your FIRST visit to WDW. You will want to come again, I guarantee it. Keep your reservations, and next time try a different resort. The kids will love the woods, the water, the horses, and the boat to MK.

Here's info on the brand-new family suites at the new Art of Animation Resort, which is just opening at the end of the month. They have 2 bathrooms and a small kitchen with microwave. Here's a link to lots of pictures and the suite layout. http://www.themouseforless.com/tripplanning/resorts/wdw/ArtofAnimation.shtml

Here's a rack rate sheet for AoA. You can use this website for lots of great info about WDW. It's very comprehensive. Look up other resorts and compare rates, too.

We're 5 and prefer 2 rooms just so we have 4 beds and 2 bathrooms. POR or CSR are good mods b/c they have queen beds and pretty good counter service food. We are considering 2 standard LM rooms at AOA for our trip next year. That will depend on any discounts that come out for our time

Have fun!! Not sure there's really anywhere that will be disappointing for a first trip.

I'd go with POR,the cabins are.....cabins. They look like the brown cabins in every campground, everywhere. They're far from just about everything...just not that "disney' IMHO,and that's just my opinion. Not fact, but not my cup of tea, I'd rather get the rooms with the atmosphere for that much money:thumbsup2

I would rather get 2 rooms at a moderate. The extra bathroom would be handy, and I wouldn't use or need the kitchen in the cabin.

The only reason I'd pick the FW cabin over 2 moderates is if it saved a lot of $$$. If the difference is relatively minimal, go for 2 rooms. :)

I would stay at one of the moderate resorts, especially since it's your first trip.

Yes it is one of the nicest campgrounds you will ever see, but logistics of getting around were just too much work for us. We had our car at the cabin but in order to go anywhere in the campground or get the boat to MK you have to use interior buses. We ended up driving our car out of the campground and to all the other parks, and we only visited somewhere else in the campground once the whole week. Cabins are decorated clever, have a full kitchen (only great if you plan to cook alot) but there is a bed and bunks in a small bedroom, then a murphy bed in living room. If you plan to sleep on murphy bed you are good if you like to stay up late, otherwise ....

The plus of two rooms in moderate are all the beds, separate sleeping spaces, two bathrooms .. walking distance to buses, pools, food courts, etc. It gives you that full resort experience 24/7.

Even though I love the cabins and the woods. I'd prefer to have 2 bathrooms & bedroooms. POR is a great resort. You would not be disappointed. I think the convience for your first trip would make things more magical in my opionion.

For me the deciding factors would be if I wanted the full kitchen the cabins provide, or the 2 bathrooms the 2 rooms provide. A full kitchen would be a big plus to me - but if I wasn't really planning on using it I would get 2 rooms at CSR or POR. Have a great trip whatever you decide - Disney is Disney!:goodvibes
