Well, I feel dumb, but we just realized yesterday that I made one too many ADRs for our upcoming visit! For some reason I thought we got one per day, not per night, of our stay. Ugh! :guilty:

I suggested just paying out of pocket for one, but dh really doesn't want to do that, :sad2: so...here's what we have...any input on which one to let go would be appreciated! Thanks!

First day...we arrive around 2pm, staying at POP. We have ADR for Boma at 7:00. We plan to go to MK after dinner.

Second day...Sci Fi for dinner

Third day...Biergarten for lunch, Rose & Crown for dinner right before Illuminations

Fourth day...no ADRs

Fifth day...Liberty Tree for dinner

Sixth day...Chef Mickeys for breakfast, Coral Reef for dinner

Seventh day...no ADRs, we go home that afternoon

My boys (ages 17 and 19) aren't too interested in Boma. I *really wanted to try it. Dh says it will take up a lot of time on our first day to do that...he estimates like three hours, and suggested dropping that one. I would be disappointed, but I'd live. lol

Are any of the other places just kind of "so-so" in your opinion, and wouldn't be too impressive anyway? I was so excited about each one, but I'm trying to remind myself that it's just food, and we aren't going to Disney just to eat! LOL :drinking:

Thanks for your input!

I'd skip Biergarten - two table service meals close together in one day is a lot of food! I like to go to dinner hungry, LOL.

Failing that, I'd skip BOMA (or better yet, change it to another day). For me it would be too much on arrival day to do a buffet dinner and a major park.

Biergarten would also be my choice to drop. I love Boma so personally I would keep that one.

I'd keep the Boma res because it's the first day and you should go over to AKL early to scope it out if you have never been there before (or even if you have!) You can easily spend an hour perusing the african artifacts in the lobby, visiting the interesting gift shop, sitting in the rockers talking or going outside to scout the savanna trails for animals. Check out the viewing stations both inside and outside the lodge...take a look at the pool, follow it way back...maybe the geyser will erupt while you're exploring.

The buffet has wonderful african dishes that are very good, but if your family likes "normal food" they have hand carved prime rib and many other choices. The salads and fruit dishes are great...and there's always Disney's mac and cheese lol. Try the frunch (fruit drink) and the foo foo (not sure if this is the right term, but it's a dish made of mashed sweet potatoes and white potatoes together). The desserts are excellent, so save room!

I also probably wouldn't try to do the Biergarten and the Rose & Crown on the same day...too much food in too short a period of time.

I'd probably drop Chef Mickey's because it's loud and not sure if your boys would like all the little kids running around. It might bore/annoy them? You know your family better than anyone, though, so you'd know if this would be the case.

Lol...brace yourself, you're going to get a lot of different opinions, I bet!

Whoops...I'm editing this because I see you have a 10 1/2 year old daughter too...she should definitely go to a character breakfast/lunch like that...or Cinderella's RT or Akershus or Park Faire or Crystal Palace (if she's into Pooh)...hmmmmm....this is not easy. I'd work on DH lol.

I'd drop Biergarten. If you choose to pay OOP for one, Chef Mickey's would probably be the least expensive.

My first thought was to cancel Boma. Don't you want to just go, go, go when you arrive on that first day?! My second thought was cancel Biergarten partly because it is two ADR in one day and partly because it just doesn't sound good to me. Do they even have the musicians for lunch?? My last, and most important, thought is - what do you really want to do? I only have one male to deal with and although her cares some, it isn't near as much as I do. Ask each of them where they are most excited about going and then you make the choice from there. I'm beginning to think it is okay for moms (or the major planners) to be selfish like that every once in a while!

Thanks everyone! I knew I'd get some good input! :) If it were up to me, Biergarten would be the one to go too. The thing is...my boys have both taken several years of German at school, and they really wanted to go there...so that one's mostly for them! I suppose they and dh could go there, and dd and I could go to Chef Mickey's...and then we would still be okay. We aren't all five going to be together every minute anyway. Hmmm...still thinking here...

See, Boma sounds sooo cool to me! I just really want to keep it! lol My dd has done the Akershus meal twice before, but I know she'd still enjoy a character meal. Which characters are at Liberty Tree? Maybe that one would be enough, and we could skip Chef Mickeys.

I would move something to take the place of Sci-Fi - we ate their in March of this year and the food was really not as good as it once was. :sad2:

If you want to do Boma and they don't and they want Biergarten and you don't, well everyone's making a trade off, right? :confused3

Liberty Tree has Chip 'n' Dale and Goofy for sure and possibly Pluto...I thought Mickey was also there, but I'm not 100% about that.

Five of my kids have taken four or more years of German, so I know what you mean...that's too good for you to miss, especially if you/they take the time to talk to the young Germans who staff the area. Let your boys show off their language skills...they'll love it if you play up to them a bit...it's not easy to find things that allow the older male teens to grin unselfconsciously at Disney, but that would be one methinks lol...I have six children, 3 boys, 3 girls ages, 18, 18, 19, 31, 32 and 34.

If you're going to eat at Biergarten, be sure to make time to listen to the Voices of Liberty in the American Experience (inside, under the rotunda) if you have never heard them...or even if you have lol...if you enjoy patriotic and American folk music. You'll be in the area and they're good...and has your little girl gotten a free candy animal creation made by Myuki in Japan? Arrive 15-20 minutes early at her cart (check the time slip you get on entrance to Epcot) and Myuki will be sure to choose her when she arrives to make those wonderful treats right before your wondering eyes! My big boys always like(d) watching this as well as my husband. Well worth the 15-20 minute wait.

Also, I just noticed you're doing two character meals back to back, LTT for dinner, and then the next morning breakfast at Chef Mickey's. Maybe drop Chef Mickey's?

Hello, your boys are 17 and 19 by no means would I drop ANY buffet, let alone one I really want to try! Give up Rose and Crown or move it to another day. If you just moved it I'd give up Sci Fi.

You can each use a CS credit in The Land at Epcot for your pre Illuminations meal. They have a wide variety of food choices so everyone should be able to find something. After the filling Biergerten lunch a CS dinner and a post Illuminations snack will probably be just right.

I'd drop Liberty Tree Tavern. You have Chef Mickey for characters and besides LTT is sponsored by the frozen food mavens!

OP, So is there any other info we need

You're particularly excited about Boma (so don't drop it)

Your kids are especially excited about Beirgarten (Don't drop it!)

Does anyone else in the family have strong feelings about any other resturant?

I'd check with your DD, did she like Norway enough to want to do that one again or does she want to try Chef Mickey's or LLT more.

My intial reaction is to drop Rose n' Crown becuase 2 sit downs that close together REALLY eats up your time 1 ts a day is plenty unless it's breakfast dinner or "brunch" and late dinner.

However you have 3 character meals. I say decide which characters you want to see most and dropping one of those is your best option.

My only advice really, is do NOT drop anything that at least 1 of you REALLY REALLY wants to do/is looking forward to. It's part of the Disney Magic.

I would keep them all & play it by ear. You may find there is a day that you will be at the parks having too much fun & decide to skip a meal than. You can just call & cancel at that time.

First time we went, I had all the ADR's in order but about half way through our stay, we just didn't "feel" like going for supper one night & didn't.

Just an idea.

Do you know where you'll be on the fourth day when you have no ADRs? Maybe you could move Boma to that day and your DH wouldn't feel like it was taking up such valuable time. My DH, DS16 and DS7 are always pumped and ready to go as soon as we get there and wouldn't like a TS meal that first night either... So I'd say keep BOMA, but move it to another day.

As for what to drop, I agree with other posters that I'd probably give up either R&C or one of the character meals unless someone was really attached to them.... Good luck with whatever you decide!

I would personally drop Sci-Fi unless someone in your family really really wants to eat there. I thought the food was less than stellar the last time I was there and not worth using any TS credits for.

I also agree with the other posters about having two TS meals in one day - not only does it take a lot of time but it is A LOT of food. But then again, you have two teenage boys, so that might be ok for them. =D

Have a great trip!
