WWYD - Skip HS?

While I normally disagree with people who say HS isn't worth going to right now I'd agree in your scenario with a 2 year old and TSMM being closed. Personally we still really enjoy the park and attend it as much as the others for ToT/TSMM/B&B show/Frozen show/Star Tours and the 2 star wars shows and we really like 50s Prime Time café. Once Toy Story/ Star Wars is opened it would be our favorite park other than the crowds being excessive for a few years.

We only spent a few hours at HS this last trip and we could’ve truly done without it. With your small kids, as long as they aren’t super into SW I’d do a third day at MK or second at Epcot instead.

Is your 6 yo a star wars fan?

We do really list HS but with the age of your kids and the limited rides I tend to agree that you could skip. I would vote for 2 days at AK given the new world and the age of your kids.

Not really Star Wars fans. 6yo DD knows who the main characters are but hasn't watched any of the movies, nor does she watch the TV shows or anything.

Yep, skip HS. It's not worth the hassle until there are more rides open. Second day at Epcot would be my vote. My kids (6 at the time of last trip in August), loved Soarin and Test Track. They also love Mitzukoshi Dept in Japan and watching the stacking chair guy in France.

How do you find out about the different activities at Epcot? I'm leaning towards a 2nd day there, but it would have to be on a Sunday and I fear the place will be overrun since it's Flower and Garden festival time. Though, the teenager in me would LOVE to see Smash Mouth instead of Jesse Springfield, so there's that.

I did not do it . No regrets. But by doing it you are dropping the Tower of Terror

Yeah, I'm a little bummed about that. And missing RnRC. But this trip is really more about the kids than us. And since only 1 of them can ride it to begin with...

I would either go to Universal Studios /IOA but if you go every year or so. Wait until they are older.

I did not do a rest day . You really can and should. So doing a day at Animal Kingdom , two at magic kingdom and one at Epcot.

You could get the hopper and split it with a second day at animal kingdom at night and see Hollywood/mgm in the day.

Especially if you are staying at deluxe or art of animation. Do a day there

We are staying at Pop. Our plan right now is:
Arrive Wed night
Thurs - AK
Fri - MK (long day)
Sat - rest day, DH and DD are going to see blue man group at Universal in the evening.
Sun - HS (or whatever else we choose instead)
Mon - Epcot
Tues - MK (shorter day, park closes at 6)
Wed - Fly home.

I could look into hoppers I suppose. Not sure how much they will be as we are using the Canadian discounted passes. This is our first trip with kids but I can't see us coming yearly, maybe every 3-4 years or something like that.

I would not base my decision on rides alone. At that age group, the highlight of their trip might be the Disney Junior show and the meeting the characters. With 5 days in the parks, I might do Hollywood Studios in the morning, take a nice pool break, then go back in the evening to watch Fantasmic or the Star Wars fireworks depending on your tastes.

One nice thing about Hollywood Studios is that it is more show-based, which means a lot less waiting in line and, which is torture with small kids. It also means everyone can go, even the 2-year-old.

True, and this is a vote in the favour of keeping our HS day. They aren't really super into the Disney Junior characters though. I mean, they know who they are for the most part but aren't rabid watchers of the show (Paw patrol on the other hand... man.)

With the ages of your little ones I can see why you are not going to my favorite park (Hollywood) so have you thought of extra time at Magic Kingdom? When my daughter was five we had to ride Small World 5 times in 2 days. MK has a lot geared for little ones and we are doing 3 days there on our next trip because of all you can do.

I have, but with 2 days already booked there... I'm not sure. I think I'd rather experience either AK or Epcot twice. True though about it being geared for the littles.

This site has some times listed for shows and performances. http://www.wdwent.com/

I would skip it. We are only planning half a day out of seven on our next trip.

Same here. And we will actually be there at the same time as OP, which is why we plan to sleep in late that day and stroll in at around noon or 1. Even with that, we're worried that we will have enough to do to keep us busy until the Star Wars Dessert party, which we're going to for my H's birthday.

Especially since your kids aren't into the Disney Jr characters or Star Wars, OP, I think you should definitely consider skipping HS this time.

If you have 5 days, I would do DHS at least one of those days. Schedule it for day 3 or 4 if you can and make it a lighter day. Sleep in if you want. Go to your hotel and have a nap. Watch the shows at a leisurely pace.

with children that young I would skip DHS and add another MK day.

Does your daughter like Frozen or Beauty and the Beast? Both shows are cute. We also did did the meet & greet with Buzz & Woody and Olaf. There's the Muppet attraction too. We were there last week, and the wait times for rides were higher than what I expected. If TSMM is down for your trip, I assume that will get worse. When my daughter was younger, she would have been bored with a second day in Epcot. As far as she was concerned, there were only two rides there, lol.

In your case I would do a third day at MK and skip DHS unless you get the hoppers.. We are only planning to go to DHS for a few hours one afternoon for our upcoming trip in Feb. A 2nd day at Epcot would be great for adults, but I know my kids would get bored if we did two full days there..

I would make Sunday your Epcot day and then decide Monday morning if you would like to try HS or go back to either AK or Epcot and see things you may have missed the first time.

I would still go. I love the way that park makes me feel. The whole atmosphere is happy. The Frozen sing a long is fantastic- even if you are not a fan of the movie. I agree with a previous poster- more shows and less waiting in lines with littles.

I’d skip it. We were there last week and even I was pretty bored. There are few rides especially for little ones and honestly at the moment the park is lacking. I hated Animal Kingdom the last time I was there which was 2001, but it is much improved. I really enjoyed it this time.

If you have your heart set on skipping HS, then I would try to make sure you’ve visited the other 3 parks before your “extra” day. You’ll get a good feel for what you want to spend more time doing, and your kids might have a favorite park that they want to visit again.

I think the winning idea is to swap our original HS day and do Epcot instead... now hoping I don't regret Epcot on a Sunday, lol.

IMHO, I would skip DHS on our next trip, but its my daughter's favorite park, so we will go.
