We already have reservations at AOA in mid October and are hoping rumors are true and FD will be released on Monday. Our trip originally started out with my MIL going with us (so we would have 3 kids under 7 and 3 adults in a room). However, MIL is having health issues and so is not going to go any longer. My mom has accepted our invite to fill her spot (we want to have someone to watch the kiddos so that we can go out by ourselves for a night), but now my dad wants to tag along (so now we need another room). We told my mom her part is paid for, since my dad is asking to go she is insisting on paying for him. So I sat down and ran some numbers, from what I calculated I think we can get 2 rooms at POR for about $450 more than what we are paying now (6 day tickets with no extras and a family suite at AOA for 5 nights, hoping for FD so I included cost to upgrade from the QS plan at AOA and did not include them at POR). I figured my mom would pay around $500 for my dad ($300 for ticket and $40/day for food). So if I include her giving me $500 for him I'm actually $50 under my original reservation.

The only other thing I came up with was 2 rooms at POP, which would put me about $125 over my original reservation without my mom giving me a dime. POP would be nice, because we could walk across to visit AOA, and I could save my mom some money. But I kinda like the idea of staying in a mod. We usually stay in All Star Movies (before our youngest) and last time we were there spoiled ourselves at BCV, we liked the idea of staying at AOA (cars suite), but we outgrew the room.

Any thoughts/preferences to help me decide?

I would probably choose POR, Alligator Bayou - so that there are beds for five in your room. And in your parents' room, for the night(s) the kids are with them while you and hubby are out (or in).

I'd get a reservation for "preferred," if I could - the little extra per night is so worth it if you plan on spending much time around the main building/food court and the main pool. These are closest to the main bus depot too (which is adjacent to the lobby building) - which means you have to wait for them to go to the other stops in the mornings when you are leaving for the parks, but you will be the first stop to get off at night coming back (which is priceless when trying to balance small sleeping people on a moving bus after having spent a day in the parks).

Excellent that was my first choice as well. Thanks for mentioning about the preferred, actually it looks like it would only cost us $80 more than my original reservation and I wanted a building closer to the main building since my mom has trouble walking long distances. And Alligator Bayou is perfect because my dad calls my youngest "Gator Bait!" I mentioned it to DH tonight and he agreed that it is our best option! Looks like I'll be annoying my TA with yet another reservation change (I think she's going to be so happy when my trip is finally over!)

:rotfl: Changing my mind about our resort-sometimes 3 or 4 times- is why I don't use a TA.
Have a great trip!

We usually don't either. I decided to this time so that she would hunt down the discounts for me.....and here I am stalking the boards and telling her to be on the lookout cause of the rumors I heard....lol!

I am a Disney TA, and I'll tell you this: we don't mind. Well, I never do. ;)
