WWYD? offered free upgrade

Hubby picked SSR. I wanted OKW.

SSR is designed after upper state NY. That means no palm trees!!
For me Florida/WDW means palm trees swaying in the breeze and lots of sunshine!

Im not into horse races either.

I know SSR will be great! But Im going to miss that tropical look that the other resorts have.

I'm not sure though about putting something made my Monistat on my face, that just sounds too weird! :lmao:

2 weeks from tomorrow, I am getting SO excited!!

I felt the same, but I got over it:rotfl2:

I figure if it's safe for a baby's butt, it can go on my face.

It's the big Hollywood secret right now:

The primer du jour right now is Monistat anti-chafing gel-powder. It goes for about 6 bucks and compares favorably to Smashbox's primer when you compare ingredients lists. It's in the "intimate" section of the drugstore. It goes on like a silicone gel (which it is) and then dries matte.

So do you just put it on first, and then put your foundation & powder over it? That seems like it would feel like a lot of gunk on the face! But if it will keep my makeup from melting off in the first 10 seconds in the FL heat & humidity, it's worth a try. I think I will try it tomorrow - it's been 102 here with high humidity, it feels like I still live in FL anyway. Sheesh. Usually at WDW I give up on makeup after the 2nd or 3rd day and just swipe on some mascara and lipgloss, but I do like to look nice in all those pictures and that just doesn't do it.

After I started using it, I didn't need normal foundation anymore, so have been buying tinted moisturizer with sunscreen and getting the same amount of coverage. I put this stuff on first, then the tinted moisturizer, then a cream blush, then sometimes I use a mineral based powder (like on super sticky days).

My favorite tinted moisturizer is from Estee Lauder because it adjusts to your skin tone, but lately I've been using Goldie because I got it for 90% off at Bath and Body Works. I've been using Maybelline Mousse blush because it's 75% off at CVS lol

I know makeup is a pain, but you're right about the pictures, plus it really does protect your skin now that they've gotten good about adding sunscreen.

A miracle just happened -- a 2nd 1brm villa just opened up for DSIL!!! Yea...now both our families have one. I'm going to have to run out and get an aerobed for the kids to take turns sleeping on as there's no way they will share the sofabed. I asked if we could add a rollaway to the ressie and was told no.

So, anyone that received the upgrade offer but could find no availability...there should now be a studio available @ OKW from 8/26-9/02.

I wouldn't give it to my kids, not even my teens. I bought Koolaid and Capri packets (and green and white tea for my husband).

Congrats on the 1br upgrade. I have a studio at SSR...just called again and still no 1br available there. 1 week from now I will be on the plane!!!!! 2 nights at ASMU and then over to SSR for 8!!!!

I have a question....we have 3 one bedroom villas for our upcoming trip (grand gathering of 12). I have 2 rooms on my ressie. I know that they do not have connecting rooms for the one bedroom villas.....I was wondering, of course I know I should just call WDW, if they would have a problem downgrading from a one bedroom to a studio, that could connect to our one bedroom villa (me, DH and 6 kids). It would be easier for us. I do not want to separate from my DH to stay in another room. But......I also am very leery about letting my teenage boys (ages 11-14) stay alone in a room that is not connected. Any thoughts? I would just call to do this before we go, but I don't want to take any chances of something getting messed up on my ressies (we leave in 14 days). I thought about just waiting to get there and requesting it then. If they would, it would open up a one bedroom villa for someone else who got the upgrade. (We were upgraded from ASMo). Thanks for your thoughts.

There's no way they're going to allow 8 people in a 1BR. 4 or 4 and a baby is the limit. Sorry.

You misunderstood what I was saying.... I want the one bedroom villa and the second room I want to downgrade from a one bedroom to a studio that will connect to my one bedroom. There will still be a total of 2 rooms, so there will be 4 per room.

I don't think she wanted to put 8 people in a 1br, I think she wanted to change one of the three 1br's to a studio. That way they could have a 1br for 4 of the people, and a hopefully connecting studio for another 4, which would effectively give them a 2-br unit.

I also thought about doing this so that we could be closer to each other (we also have 3 1br's at SSR, and are also leaving in 14 days!) but I don't want a connecting room with my brother and his GF since they plan to party into the wee hours every night, and neither do my parents, and neither my parents nor I are willing to downgrade to a studio. Mom wants the kitchen/laundry, and I want my own bedroom!! So we are just hoping they will honor our request of keeping us all in the same building.

To answer joyerbides question: I would think that if they have a studio available, they would change one of the rooms no problem. I doubt you'd get a refund since the upgrade was free no matter which size room you upgraded to, if that makes since. However, I'd be careful because they probably can't guarantee that the studio would be one that is connecting to your 1-br room. It never hurts to call and ask though, and of course you could always ask once you get there.

I bet they don't get many calls for downgrades!!

Also, depending on the ages of the kids, if you put ALL the younger kids into one room with no adult, they will ensure that the room connects to a room with an adult. BUT I'm not sure they'll let you do this if you have enough adults to split amongst the rooms.

For example, if I were to travel alone with my 2 DD's and put them in one room and myself in another, I'd be guaranteed connecting rooms. But if I were to bring my mom with, they would not let me put the kids in one room and my mom & myself in another. They would make me put one adult in with the kids, just in case there are no connecting rooms available they don't have to shuffle other people around to accommodate children in a room alone. So on second thought... never mind, that won't work for you. Good luck making your decision! As our trip gets closer, I always keep second-guessing my plans. I have to keep reminding myself NO CHANGES! I planned things this way for a reason, and it will be great... no last minute changes!!

Well, my kids probably don't want to be in a studio either (since I already told them about the one bedroom), however......they will if I say so;) . Either way, I will probably wait until we get there, to make SURE we could get a connecting room, otherwise it would be pointless. I'm not concerned about a refund. As you said, I am getting it for free. I was thrilled when they upgraded us to one bedroom villas. But the more I thought about it, the more worried I got about leaving them alone. I am very overprotective, even my husband thinks so. I'm sure they would be fine, but boys will be boys(worried about the sneaking out thing). Also, after reading the post yesterday about someone stealing another person's stuff out of SSR, I just kept thinking that "what if something happened and I wasn't in the room". Maybe it's just me. I know that happened while they weren't in the room, but you just never know.

on a different note, you are right, I'm sure they don't get alot of requests for people downgrading. I might just set a disney record :lmao:

I know a lot depends on who you talk with at CRO, but when I tried to book my daughter and her friend in a connecting room, they wouldn't allow it even though I was the only adult in our party of 4. They said I would just have to put all of us in one hotel room. :scared: (So glad I got the upgrade to a 1 BR, lol.)

Cruiselines allow it, but 2 CM's I spoke with would not do this and said each room has to have someone 18 or older in it because they cannot guarantee connecting or even side by side rooms.
