I also paid for preferred rooms at ASMu, in fact just had called to upgrade to preferred about a week or two before the DVC upgrade offer came! I got a credit of $4-5 per room. My dad suggested I call back and see if we could get credited the amount of the preferred room, but I said no way! That would be so ungrateful, to be offered this $8300 upgrade and then ASK for $300 back on the relatively little we paid for this awesome deal!! If he wants to ask, he's going to have to make that call himself. I know he won't... this is the guy who borrows my kids so he can order a kid's hotdog for himself, because he won't order a kids meal without having a kid physically there. Silly man!

Ok, I'm glad to know I am not the only one who did not get a refund and would feel bad about calling!! The women who's post I saw had a grand gathering, so maybe the $83 she was credited back she THOUGHT was for preferred rooms but really it was just for the taxes for all the days on however many rooms she had...if anybody DID get any money back, please post your story about what you got refunded and how you went about it if you did have preferred rooms...as of now my consensus is to just let it go because I am so HAPPY and THANKFUL for this awesome offer!! Money is tight though so every little bit would help...any more thoughts on this?

Nope, I asked her about it and she said she was refunded $83 each. We have three rooms for 10 days, and our total refund was $4 for one room, and $5 for each of the other two. Grand total of a $14 refund. If we were refunded the amount of the preferred vs. standard room, it would have been closer to $300 - around $100 for each room since it's around $10 per night per room to upgrade to preferred. The difference in taxes is just a few cents per day (around 51 cents according to my refund). It seems totally random the way they figure these things out, but like I said I'm not going to question it or haggle over the refund or lack thereof, I'm still getting an amazing deal which will result in the trip of a lifetime!

Was this possibly the person that had 3 adults in the room at the value? The charge extra for more than 2 adults per room at any of the other resorts but at dvc they don't charge that extra adult fee.

I don't remember that part. Do they charge extra for extra children in the room too? One of our rooms is myself and two children, and we got refunded slightly more than our other two rooms each containing two adults.

I was just wondering if you were sure this was because you had preferred rooms at POP that you received this refund? We were refunded $2.04, which I figured had to do with tax rates...did the CM tell you if you had a preferred at Pop that you should be refunded back down to the standard price?

It's not a big deal to me, because I am VERY grateful for the upgrade! But, if it would save me some money it might be worth calling on...just let me know! Also, if anybody else had a preferred room at a value...did you get refunded for the price to a standard?

Im more excited about this trip than other trips!

We have been blessed with free dining and the free resort upgrade!

For those of you with the upgrades, don't be surprised if you are upgraded to a 1-bedroom upon check-in. I have seen people booked through CRO get upgraded at Check-in on more than one occasion.

Yep that is right we got 4 1brs.(We have another party who is not a disboard member. Can you believe that?) Here is my dream thought. Maybe I can get upgraded to a 2 bedroom. Ok that is greedy I know but I had a thought.

I have been thinking about this upgrade and had a thought or to Please no flames because I love that we got upgraded and wouldn't want to give up my 1 bdroom: So here are my thoughts.
Why were the upgrades for SSR&OKW and not any of the other deluxes? I would love to have stayed at the CR,Poly,BW. When I looked at disneysite if was about 2000$ cheaper for my family to stay at one of these than at a DVC. For my family this would be easier than staying at OKW. Closer to the parks and food.Do you think there is motive here(to buy in) or just where their is more space?
My second thought is that all the values we have given up are going to other families thus bringing in more people to the parks and making the slow season not slow at all. We went last yr at the end of FD and POP was packed they had to upgrade tons of people to other resorts because they didn't have any rooms left.
Please no flames,but I know other people have also had these thoughts.
I love that I was able to get an upgrade and don't want to sound ungrateful because I'm far from that.

Bell....Sounds like you would need a Grand Villa with how many people you have in your traveling party and I have heard of a few getting upgraded to those over the years. It's rare....but it can happen !

I went from a preferred room (6 nights) at Pop to a studio at SSR, just a $3.36 credit.

I don't know we were in a preferred room at Pop too. but recieved a 2. and change credit but that's okay we just rolled it over to get an extra day at the parks, we went from a 6 day pass to a 7 day!

We upgraded from preferred at ASMu to 1-brs at SSR and did not get the big refund, only $4-5 per room. Did they specifically tell you that you were getting the credit because of the lack of "preferred" status at SSR?



M2DDs: I have noticed that OKW and SSR are also featured for a FL Resident special price, and AP discounts as well. I'm thinking the CRO rooms are just not filling up very much year for some reason, and that is why they are being used for the upgrades rather than a deluxe. I think it's just a matter of rooms being available, and they can probably fill the deluxes pretty easily without shuffling anyone over to them. They would rather have the OKW/SSR room occupied at a lower rate than not occupied at all, and making money on booking the values to capacity. With the amount of rooms that are opening up due to these upgrades, I'm guessing maybe only a couple hundred, I don't think it'll have too much impact on the crowd level.
