lanajae-yes. mine showed up about an hour after I booked. It doesn't show free dinning but I called and its still there.

i was offered the same upgrade and did from asm to ssr, i guess its their way of trying to sell you on DVC

I've been watching this thread today (I have so much to do but this is much more entertaining). Just wondering and thinking about patterns. Did this offer go to any of the folks who booked their free DDP reservation through the Bounce Back Program or our UK friends who booked last year for this promotion. Or did this offer only go to folks who booked when it was offered through the general public or Visa holders. It would be interesting to see if there was a connection with any of these different groups.

I just booked on Disney's site on May 6. I think the triggers might be the dates and if you were booked at ASMu or POP with an arrival date from 8-26 to 9-1 (and possibly an ending date that didn't overlap with more bookings).

Maybe the renovations at ASMu is the reason why this group is getting the email?

As excited as I am about our upgrade 1 bdroom at OKW for 13 nites I can't help but wonder how crowded this is going to make the parks. All of us that got the upgrade are rooms at the value are now going to be open for more people to book over labor day. My DH keeps reminding me that the dis boards are just a small % of people who recieved the e-mail. I wonder how many were sent out. Anybody eles thought about this?

This will have no effect, it was going to be crowded anyway and as your DH said with a resort with thousands of rooms this is a very small group. Free Dining is always crowded.

I think it will still be a low-crowd park time because FL and the surrounding states have started school by this time, and people from many other states that start school after Labor Day are busy getting ready to go back to school.

It's probably not a popular week for DVC people, so maybe only the rooms that aren't sold at SSR and OKW will be full.

If ASMu is doing renovations now, maybe they plan to start on ASMo and sports during this time period too, due to lower crowd volumes. They have to do a lot of cleanup after the no-smoking rules started and maybe their answer to that is to renovate the values all at the same time.

Just guesses, but I am not worried at all about crowds. I was at ASMo the first week in May and it was full, but the parks were fine and we got to do everything we wanted.

FYI: for those not familar with OKW and SSR, just to make sure you know and are prepared, the one bedrooms will have one king bed and a queen sofa sleeper.

The studios at SSR will have one queen and one full size sofa bed.
The studios at OKW will have two queen beds.

The one bedrooms at OKW are huge with a full kitchen, large living area and dining room.

This will have no affect on it, at this time. The rooms come from different inventories. DVC has their part and a small percentage of the resort belongs to Disney, which is the part they are offering for upgrades.

Just spoke to a CM and no upgrade for me I'm at a mod though. He told me that it was likely targeted as specific zip codes. Wondering if this is true. Are you all from a certain part of the country?? I really think it must be only values though as no one has posted an upgrade from a mod...

I booked a mod and I am so envious I also booked thru travelocity - I am guessing those getting upgraded booked thru wdwtravel. I think its soooo cool they are upgrading so many people!

Others have been able to book for others who have the value booked already with no problem even if only one got the e-mail. Keep calling until you get a CM who will work with you. A little smoozing goes a long way too. SSR or OKW, either is wonderful and yes you should go for it, no thinking about it.

DisneyNY- My IL's are coming after labor day and going through a TA so they will not be able to use the upgrade but, on my post I mentioned that we don't get along very well so having some distance (staying at different resorts) is a huge plus for me. I keep telling myself this yr I will not let them ruin my time at Disney.(they go every yr with us) ok I'm degressing from the post. So i'll just crawl away quietly....
