We are booked at Poly villas Saturday check in-Sat check out end of April. Just booked our flights and due to pricing decided to fly out Friday night. We need opinions on how to plan the Friday night arrival & stay to MCO around ~9:45PM.

what are your thoughts? (we plan on hanging around Poly or Disney Springs that Sat check in day)

1. stay at airport, nearby hotel & collect all our luggage - check into DME early morning? ~$ 134/1 room for 4 adults/1 child

or find another inexpensive local hotel that will utilize DH corporate Marriott/Hilton/Starwood discount

2. stay at Swan or Dolphin - MEARS service with all our luggage, ~$100/1 room (DH corporate discount) and have bellhop transfer our luggage to Poly. we never done split stay so not sure how that will work for us

3. book 1 nite onsite hotel - use DME Friday nite, $ variable depending on availability and potential 2018 discounts

4. extend our Poly stay an extra day to include Friday nite, bit hesistant on this since such a late checkin. seems $ for just a bed to sleep in, since we won't enjoy the resort until next day

We would choose option 1 as it would get us into bed sooner after traveling. It's nice to be in our room within 15 minutes of grabbing our luggage. That is our usual choice when flying in after 10PM.

We just did #3 last week and it worked well. I had already booked The Yacht Club for our stay, but ended up booking flights to arrive late the night before. I found a great rate at All Star Movies and it worked really well for what we needed, and with our AP discount it was under $100 for the extra night. If I hadn't been able to book the deal that I did, I would have gone with option #1 and stayed near the airport.

How late was the arrival of your luggage and was it easy to get it transferred to YC?

We actually ended up getting in much earlier than when I initially booked because our plans changed entirely due to Hurricane Maria (we were supposed to be in The Dominican Republic before Disney, but ended up in NY instead), our original plan was always to pick up our luggage due to how late we were arriving.

Baggage transfer to YC was very simple, we brought our own bags to bell services (or whatever it is called at the value resorts) and they tagged our bags and let us know to expect our luggage after 3pm, I believe we got to YC around 2:30, after some time in Epcot and AK, and our luggage was already at YC, and bell services brought it right up.

We're going with option 1 in january as we are getting in just before midnight.

We would probably do one night at an onsite resort (swan/dolphin/disney - which ever has the best rate including any transportation costs) just to get there and be able to start vacation in the morning. I wouldn't want 2 travel days even if the second day is just DME to the resort. Once we were on property, it's pretty easy to move to (in this case) the Polynesian to check in, store bags if the room isn't ready and start the day.

I would price out the following:

1) staying at the Hyatt MCO so you can get off the plane, get your luggage and literally take an elevator to the hotel. Personally, I would not want to collect my luggage, drive to a nearby hotel and then have to drive back to MCO to get DME. The Hyatt is inside the airport so it makes catching DME in the morning super easy.

2) Swan/Dolphin with the added transportation cost. Swan/Dolphin will transfer your luggage to Poly so, except for the added transportation cost, you are practically staying onsite

3) Your cheapest WDW onsite option.

All three of these will offer convenience, so I would pick the cheapest. Quite honestly, with a 9:45 pm landing, if staying onsite, I would still collect my luggage so bell services isn't knocking on your door at 2:30 am. You could ask bell services to hold your luggage until the morning, but we've had quite a few mix-ups with DME/bell services and, except for resort-to-resort transfers, prefer to handle our luggage ourselves.
