What would you do?

We will be visiting Disney in late November/early December and will be driving (about 16 -17 hrs total (mostly on I-95).

I have been debating whether to stay in the Daytona area the night before and finish the drive up the next morning.... or just just drive the full way to Orlando and stay locally so we could get an early start the next day.

Price wise... I am sure I could find something relatively cheap in either area (priceline, etc... especially since our night before will be a wednesday night).

Is the traffic bad enough that its better to avoid the Orlando area for morning rush hour? Is it worth pushing the extra 2 hrs from Daytona to Orlando? What would you do?

We've done Daytona for a few days before Disney and it's only about 45 minutes to Orlando. If you're not going to go to the beach then I would just go into Disney the night before to avoid the traffic in the morning.

we normally just push through and stay in either the Doubletree Suites or the Buena Vista Suites.

We have been very happy with the Fairfield Inn & Springhill Suites in the Marriott Village at Little Lake Bryan. (Go out end of Hotel Plaza - go under interstate, turn left at Golden Corral/Bahama Breeze). We have stayed there several times.

We've stayed at the Doubletree next to DTD with Hilton Honor points. We were able to get up and get going early enough to make it to MK before rope drop. I checked in while DH got our luggage out of the car to be stored. Then we went out to the bus stop and rode the bus to MK and made it through the gates before the train pulled into the station. It was wonderful, and I don't think we'd ever do it any other way since it worked so well. We'd only stay further away if it was a few hours away and we simply couldn't make it to the WDW area until it was really late.
