WWYD -- Gift Card Question

My DD received a gift card for her birthday to Justice for Girls from a neighbor's little girl. The neighbor has three girls (set of twins) who came to the party. So I know she forked out some money ($25 GC, Build-A-Bear DS game and two little necklaces) for the gifts.
Well, I stopped by the Justice store today and thought I'd take DD back there this weekend to get some summer clothes. I can't find the dang GC anywhere!! I know I told my friend who was helping at the party to set it aside because I didn't want it to get mistakenly put in the garbage while DD was opening gifts. That's the only thing I can think happened to it. ARGG

So, my question is do I ask my neighbor (she is a close friend as well) to look to see if she still has the receipt so that I can get a replacement GC. What would you do??

Eeek, that's a toughie. Can you get a replacement gift card w/ a receipt? If you can't and you tell your neighbor, she might feel obligated to buy your DD another gift card.

Maybe you can call their corporate office or the store and ask them if you lost it, can you get a replacement card with the receipt, if so then maybe it'll be ok to ask your neighbor.

Sorry, I'm not much help, if it was me, I'd just let it go in fear that she would spend more money on my DD if she didn't have the receipt anymore. Good luck, hope you find the gc!

I assume you checked with your friend who was helping you at the party? Maybe she put it in a safe place...

Like the prior poster said-can you get a replacement if you have the receipt? I would double check that with a manager at the store, not just a cashier. Even then, I probably wouldn't ask the neighbor for a receipt-she might not have kept it. When I give a gift card I sometimes put the receipt in with the card just in case there's a problem, like the cashier didn't activate it correctly or something. But if I don't do that, I don't hang onto the receipt. Your neighbor would probably feel bad about it.
