WWYD? AKV or BLT?

I am heading to WDW in a few days and plan on buying DVC then. I will be checking out the BLT models, and had planned on buying, but then started to rethink AKV.

I plan mostly on staying on future trips at BCV/BWV (intend to pick up some resale points later next year), BLT and OKW

I know I will love the location of BLT and the easy access to a variety of TS restaurants (DH is a foodie). The sticking point is the high $$ per point and the high points per night.

AKV is not really my cup of tea, but it does have some big pluses going for it.
1. Developer points just like BLT
2. lower points per night
3. long contract (just 3 years shorter than BLT)
4. 2008 points as well as DP
5. lower cost per point ($97.75 vs $107)

I know the mantra buy where you want to stay, but after the novelty wears off, I am sure I can get a palce at BLT (not MK view of course) and of course, I would mind staying at AKV if I couldn't change at 7 months.

Right now AKV is looking pretty good with 2008 points plus DP vs. BLT's DP and 2009 points.

What would you do?

Others will chime in but IMO, if yiou're not interested in the 11 month booking advantage at AKV, BLT points will likely buy you more bang for the buck (read: overall dollar value) over the long haul than the AKV points. This is based on lower projected annual dues than AKV and a couple of other factors.

There are a couple of threads running about this right now on the first page or two of the operations forum (I think) but they are titled peculiarly. Value kinda came out inside another thread during other discussions (it wasn't necessarily the topic/title of the thread).

If you don't care if you have the 11 month booking window at AKV or BLT, then why not just buy a resale at BWV or BCV and get the 11 month window where you want and need it? For that matter, if you don't feel you NEED the 11 month window ever, then just buy a resale for OKW or SSR and pay lower dues per year and have lower point cost accommodations to fall back on should what you want not be available at the 7 month mark.

The whole idea of home resort revolves around the 11 month booking window. If that doesn't matter to you, then go for the cheapest option. Something you may not be aware of is that ALL sold out resorts can also be purchased direct from Disney too. You don't have to go to a resaler to get them, and they can be financed that way as well.

What I would do is irrelevant. You need to do what you feel is right. However, if it were me, I'd go with a resale of an existing property to save money. We don't really care which DVC resort we stay in. We like them all and, although we do like some more than others, I am happy staying in any of them.

That said, if you know you'll want the 11-month booking window at BLT then I would buy there. We have no interest in BLT so the higher cost of those points makes them something we would never even consider.
