We are planning to take time out from Disney to go to universal. I was wondering how much time is reasonable to take for universal. We mainly want to see all the Harry Potter stuff and maybe the simpsons and transformers. We only have a week in Florida so we have to make it count. We are going first week of may 2015. Any insights or hints are welcome. My son is a huge Harry Potter fan so that is my main thing to see there. We are not huge ride people so we don't have to do a lot of rides at all.

thanks :)

I think a full day given your modest goals would be enough, especially since early May is not known as a busy time.

IMO 2 days park to park would be worth it especially if he is going to get an interactive wand. It will be nice to take your time, go through the Maurader's map and cast all the spells. And then make some potions, and ride the Hogwarts Express in both directions, and then hit up the rides (Yes, transformers is a must do)

make some potions? are you referring to getting the drinks they offer mixing with gilly water or something different?

We went to UO/IOA on Thursday Aug 28. I think TP had it as a level 4 day to give you a comparison.

We spent Wednesday night at the Hard Rock to get the early entry and the express pass. I found one day was enough to do everything we wanted.

Got in line to enter the park at 7:30. They opened up the turnstiles almost immediately and walked people over to the entrance to Diagon Alley. Around 7:50 they started letting people in. Like the vast majority of the crowd we went to Gringott's first. We were out of the ride by 8:30. Was Awesome! Spent some time wandering and exploring Diagon Alley.

Transformers was down, so we leisurely walked, shopped and rode:
Rip Ride Rockit
The Mummy
Simpson's
MIB

ET was also down

We had lunch at Mel's Diner

Rode:
Transformers (which had opened)
And watched Horror Make Up Show

Then took HE to Hogsmeade
Leisurely walked and shopped and rode:
Dragon Challenge
Forbidden Journey
The Hulk
Spiderman

Wanted to have dinner at Blondie's to have a Dagwood but it closed at 3PM :sad1:

Took HE to London
Had dinner at the Leaky Cauldron
Leisurely walked and explored and rode:
ET (which was open by this time)
Rip Ride Rockit
Transformers

Caught the boat back to HRH, picked up our overnight bags and caught a cab back to Beach Club.

We'd been to UO/IOA back in February 2013 so weren't interested in some of the rides (Despicable Me, Shrek, Disaster, Jurassic Park). The early entry and express pass made everything easy.

Hope that helps!
