It's been a couple years since we visited UoA and WWoHP, so I am sure there are different crowd control policies in place now.

We are staying on site, HRH, and will take advantage of early entry in the AM. Once we leave in the AM, how are the crowds in the late afternoon or early evening. I have read somewhere that you need a "fastpass" type ticket to return to the area or wait in a huge line. Is this still true? We would like to do some touring at night as WWoHP is gorgeous at night.

We are touring 8-4 to 8-7.

The WWoHP is still quite Popular. It can get pretty crowded by mid morning but by early evening the crowds lessen up. You will have the Express Pass as part of your stay at HRH but you cannot use it for the Main attraction at WWoHP, Forbibben Journey. WWoHP is only a small Area at Islands of Adventure, I am sure you'll get round to seeing all of it in a few hours.

They have not used the return time ticket system in a very long time, and I wouldn't expect it to come back any time soon. The WWoHP is still a very popular section of the park, with Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey sometimes seeing 90 to 120 minute waits, but I'd say 60 is about the average in the summer time. Definitely take advantage of early entry, experience the rest of the park(s) during the day, and then come back in the evening to enjoy smaller crowds, shorter wait times, and the beauty of the area at night :)

So, there are no more three hour lines just to get into WWoHP--yeah! The only time we have been to WWoHP was one month after it opened and it was crazy busy.

As BrinkofSunshine mentioned, the entry passes have not been used since last year. You no longer have to wait outside WWoHP to enter as you did on your previous visit.

Hand tip!!
If there is only a couple or even a group of you go in the singles que you wasn't ten minutes tips and your more likely to sit together it saves so much time! I do it every year and me and my friend went in the singles que and we got to sit together every time we went on it! :)

We just got back and noticed WWoHP quite a bit less crowded then our trip prior. We used the early entry for hotel guests both mornings and got to visit all the shops, Olivanders and FJ ride before the crowd came in at 9AM. I also got to visit both nights and ride FJ with little to no wait. I got on for the last ride, right before 9PM and literally walked on with no one around.
