Has anyone here visited the WWOHP while they have not been staying on-site. How horrible was it without that extra hour in the morning?

I can't afford the Universal hotels and already have tickets so I can't do a HP package with the partner hotels, so no extra hour for us.

I would go enjoy the rest of the park/parks and then head over to WWOHP in the late afternoon. By park opening at 9am it is a mad house and when we were there one day the line wrapped all the way around the park to just get into the area. It was a 6 hour wait that day and DH and I headed over after 5:30 and just walked in.

We stayed offsite and didn't get to the park till about 1-2pm. There was no line to get into the park but it was pretty packed but not terribly so. We only waited about 20 mins for Flight of the Hippogriff and an hour for Forbidden Journey. The lines for The Three Broomsticks and Ollivanders were pretty long but we got Butterbeer fast.

I am offsite now. I took today off from the parks since I have already gone Sat-Monday. I have ridden FJ 4 times already! 3 as singles (avg wait time was 10 minutes) and once as a whole group and that one took 45 minutes (on Sunday). I rode DC's and the longest part was the walk (as usual even when it was DD). I don't do the Hippogriffs since to me all that is, is a kiddie coaster (same ride as when it was the Flying Unicorn). The stores were a bit too crowded for me to try and go in (really didn't want to either).

I would not worry about being an onsite guest. You cannot use your room key for any sort of express on FJ, so that hour extra in the morning really isn't a big deal. You are better off doing it later in the day when everyone has already been there done that...
