I am trying the Wendie Plan on WW to try and get my loosing jump started again. Has anyone tried this? If so, can you do the Wendie Plan more than 1 week in a row? I need to get things MOOOOOVING again! :p

I would suggest talking to your WW leader, but I'm not sure if you are doing the on-line program or not. Are you eating within the Flex points program?

I'm pretty new to WW (5 weeks, with w-i tonight... ), so I don't know how much help I can be!

I read an aritcle about this back in March, I believe in Womens Day? Maybe a different magazine. I do recall she did the plan continually - she alternated days of high and low point intake to suit what was on her calendar and had much success. It was for more than one week...

the South Beach diet foods and counted WW points an lost 4 pounds the week I did it.

G-
I needed the boost too and DH wanted to try Atkins - I suggested SB and bought the book. After reading it, I thought well I am going to do this (it is basically no bread, pasta or rice) but there is an induction time (2 weeks) of no fruit carbs, etc.

Okay on with my short version of story- I lasted only 3 days on the "strict" no bread and no fruit. DH made a really high fiber ww bread in bread machine (2 points per slice) and so I said okay I will have some of the bread and fruit. And, that week I lost 4 pounds.

So really what I did was eat WW friendly foods but no rice, pasta or reg bread only high fiber WW bread for the week (not much bread either 2 slices total). So maybe you should be looking at reducing some of those type carbs and see if you could get a jump start.

And, you know the other thing I was trying to do was to get rid of my sugar crave need. And I did too, it worked when I was eating that way, I did not crave my Miss Meringue cookie or my tootsie roll pop.

So just a thought and I am taking a weight lifting class right now and the instructor is saying that every 3 weeks - one needs to change their exercise routine to " mix it up and make the body keep guessing" and finally he says 2 pounds a month is what is a good amount to lose - just some thoughts.

Sending PD your way for a "jump start" for you again :D

Hang in there it will happen - just remember how far you have come so far!

There is a website devoted especially to the Wendie plan.I do not have it on my favorites anymore since I am doing Atkins but if you go to the WW site and get on the Discussion boards you can find the address for the site.

Great suggestion, Disneyfan, but I am an at home WWer working off of old info from a friend and info from the web. Maybe Dan (SnackyStack) will want to try his leader skills out on me? Hi Dan! :wave2:

Thanks, Sheila! I have been to the Wendie website and I surfed :magnify: around their message boards a little. I just didn't see the answer to how long/how often. Lots of discussion about doing Wendie Plan with Flex points and using Activity points and..... :scratchin

Thanks for the tips, Bebr! I do limit my carbs after 4 pm. That just seems to work best for me and my family. I think I will sit down and examine my journal :teacher: and see if I have carb creep going on.

I know what's thrown me off the losing -- adding the weight training

-- but I don't want to give up the weights so I am trying to find a way to make this work for my body.

Onward and downward I will go!! :jumping4: :jumping4: :jumping4:

geetey... if there is any WW info that i can help you out with, I will be glad to. i've been there when i couldn't afford the ww meetings (really...i still can't!), and another DISer helped me out with WW info. so i will continue this tradition. feel free to pm me, if there's any info. you need!

congrats on your weight loss! you're doing a great job! ::yes::

There are definately sites out there about the Wendi Plan. Start with the WW's BB's. I know that a lot of people do the Wendi Plan as the everyday way they do WW's. Personally, with Flex points, I do this already. I have a few days a week I eat high about 30 or so, and a few days where i hit my target of 22, and a few that are a little higher. It averages out over time. I just make sure I don't use more than my target plus flex points. I think it's naturally how our bodies react well. Last week, since I had been having more high days than low over the past few weeks, I tried to go low the majority of the days and I lost 2.8 pounds last week.

Good luck,
Melanie

Thanks for the tips. Melanie. How do you handle your activity points with your Flex points? Do you eat them first, then Flex? Do you use them at all? Just curious as you are having such great success so closely to goal. :) I reasonably have 30-50 pounds more to go, adding to my confusion over my sudden slow down in loss.

Terry, Have you ready Wendie's description of the Wendie Plan? Here's a link: The Wendie Plan in a Nutshell, by Wendie

She recommends it as an ongoing, every week strategy. And she doesn't use activity points at all.

I kind of do the Wendie Plan, but not in a very structured or planned way. I just try to vary my points use from day to day. I try to not be at the very minimum points more than 2 days in a row, and I try to have one day a week with very high points- I try to use 10 or 15 of my flex points on this day.

I haven't tried to low-carb on Weight Watchers. I've planned to do some low carb days, but I just love my low-fat tortillas and other carbs too dadgum much to follow through!:p

Have you found some good Wendie Plan information?

(We're going to a Halloween costume party tonight. I have a feeling this will be one of my extraordinarily high points days! How many points in a gin and tonic?):teeth:

Hi Kathy! :wave2:

I found my Wendie Info here---> POINTing My Way to a New Life and have been referring to this---> Wendie Plan & Activity Points for activity points info.

Perhaps I need to tweak my exercising and plan days so that my weigth lifting days are on the higher point days, and just walking is on lower point days, and skip the activity points. I haven't focused on doing that, since I do an every other day plan with weight lifting. OR.....

Maybe I do need to simply stop exercising! hahahaha

Will you be having diet tonic with that gin?

If so, you are only using 2 points a drink! Quite the bargain compared to my margarita!

Regular gin & tonic - 4 points. Have fun at the party!!

I ran across this thread here in DIS and had never heard of the "Wendie Plan" before though I am a WW lifetime member. I followed the links posted to read about it. I have to say it does work - I have used this theory for quite a while though I have never been quite so scientific about it. For me, if I have hit a slump, I try to eat high a couple of times during the week and it seems to jumpstart things. For some reason the body does need the variance in points to keep moving along with loss. It is nice to see it validated!!!

Thanks for sharing - good luck to all who try it. I am going to try the "formula" more strictly next week to see if I can jumpstart again! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc
