WW Weekly Weigh In--- Part 2

I am going to join WW on Saturday look forward to sharing with all of you.

Hey! I'm a Saturday meeting person too. :thumbsup2 I am looking forward to your 1st weigh in post. How has it been going so far? I've been away from this thread for years, but I'll be posting my results this coming Saturday as well. Good luck to you this week!

. . .Today was my weigh in day. It was a good week, I'm down 2 lbs  For a total of 33.2 . . .

. . .The most important part is I have made it to ONE-derland! I can't remember the last time I had a weight that started with a 1~

. . .youngest leaves for college this coming Wednesday; oldest goes in another week and a half. to start his Junior Year I am so excited for both of them yet dreading coming home to a empty house. On the bright side, DH and I are planning an empty nest trip to Disney for food and wine.
HI Diane Welcome back! . . .
.

Thank you for the welcome and congrats on making it to ONE-derland!!!! I cannot wait to get there myself. I have a little more than 20 pounds to go before I'll be joining you. I too cannot remember the last time I weighed in at under 200 lbs. I still have 85-90 lbs to go altogether, but I'm just so excited when I cross those little hurdles. The next one for me: 100 lbs gone. I'm so close I can almost taste it. I don't think I'll get there by this Saturday, but I am hoping to by the next. :thumbsup2

So your youngest left today . . . . . . I am dreading those days. I still have a few years to go, but I know the time will fly. It is so funny to read that you're planning an empty nest trip to Disney. DH & I have both agreed that this is the first thing we will do too. I can think of no better way to comfort myself than a week in WDW! ;)

I am headed to my meeting in a little bit. Does anyone else get nervous? . . .

Does anyone else struggle with skinny siblings who say very hurtful things? . . . Oh well I need to stay postive.
. . .

You are not alone....I ALWAYS get nervous before weigh in! I get nervous even when I know I have done well all week. I guess I just think I'm going to hit another plateau and be stuck with no loss for all my efforts. Usually, I'm wrong. I have had the occasional .2, .4, .6 loss though, and I have to keep reminding myself, "Hey! It's a LOSS! I can't be on a plateau if the scales are moving downward."

 I am so sorry about your sibling struggle. I am so proud of your for realizing that you must stay positive. :thumbsup2 And I completely understand the need to vent. While I cannot relate to the sibling part of your story (I'm an only child), I do remember the sting I felt one day while shopping at Kohl's. I was browsing in the Misses Dept. (or whatever they call the "normal size" section) and overheard two ladies giggling while looking my way. I had been holding up a size XL just to see how close I was getting. I KNEW it was too small, but just the fact that it is getting CLOSE is very encouraging to me. However, I overheard one of them say in a very catty tone, "I don't think so," after which they both turned away and giggled. Later, I stepped back into the plus size dept. and as they walked by one of them said, "We better watch it, or this may be our future too one day.":sad2: Some people act as though you are an object to be played with and not a living, breathing human being, but I refuse to give them control of my emotions. I KNOW I am full of worth, and that is all that matters. :goodvibes

Hi All! I am new to WW and to the WISH boards. I hope you don't mind me joining in! I am 27 and in need of losing at least 40 lbs. Here is my first weign in! 175.5

Hey! If I can be gone for years and return, you can certainly join in too. ;) WELCOME! Good luck this week with your new eating plan! I look forward to cheering you on to your goal.:cheer2:

Diane, That is terrible what happened in the store. I would have given those women a "what to" but I can have a big mouth;)

Man I miss onederland. Congrats to you guys for being so close. I have over 40 lbs to get there.:scared1: Onward and Downward though.

Hi all. After a few weeks of plateau- I've finally lost again! I'm just going to put my weight out there- I have nothing to hide! I started at 167.2, and am now down to 148!! That's almost 20lbs!! WHOO!!!! I'm going to get DH on WW on Monday. Here's what's been going on...

The place I work at is having a Biggest Loser competition. I started almost 15 weeks ago and did WW points, then WW core. I plateaued around week 11, so I switched to Combat the Fat. It's worked to get me over the hump. Once I have my final weigh in on Friday (and I'm going to WIN by the way ;) :lmao: ), I'm going to jump back on WW with DH. Excited! I'm excited to eat FOOD again.

SO, I'm celebrating my weigh in of 3lb lost so far this week... I'll let you know how I do Friday!!! OOOOHHHH I am CRAAAVING a Skinny Cow!!!!

Oh . . . believe me!!! I had some really good thoughts for those two "ladies." ;)

I remember thinking when I started last June, when I was over 320, that I would be so relieved to make it into the 2-hundred-somethings. To be this close to ONE-derland is like a dream come true. :cloud9: Just keep on whittling away at it, and those 40-something lbs will be gone before we know it!!:thumbsup2

DznyDreams you are my new hero -- you've lost so much and have come so far. It shows how this program really does work. You will be at One-derland before you know it and we will all be here to celebrate with you. :woohoo:

toledo13 :cool1: Congrats on the biggest loser win -- What is a skinny cow. Obviously I'm deprived :rotfl:

natenapril Onward and Downward for sure! You too will be at One-derland before you know it and we will :goodvibes with you when you arrive

DisneyMOM09 :welcome: Please join in our little group here

Tomorrow is my weigh in day. I'm not working but i don't want to miss my meeting so I am going into the City tomorrow to attend my meeting and then I'll take the LIRR out to the Island to attend parents day at my son's college. We dropped him off today. The best line of the day goes to my DH who at the end of getting him settled turns and says, OK we can leave now.... Joe...hurry up aren't you coming? LOL he forgot HE WAS NOW STAYING AT THE COLLEGE :rotfl: My husband will meet me out there and hopefully remember that only two people -- that would be him and me, will be riding in the car back :lmao:

Have a great evening all. I'll check back tomorrow with my weigh-in results.

Thank you for the warm welcome! Last night I made some of those chocolate muffins where you mix a cake mix with a can of diet coke! Yum!! It was the perfect dessert, with not to many points! I really think I can do this! This is day 4 for me, it's usually around this time in any "diet" that my cravings kick in to high gear and I give up do to the stress of denying myself. the great thing about the points plan is I don't have to deny myself, I jsut have to determine if it is really worth the point value! I have found I don't like to waste my points!

I had my yearly physical yesterday.

Since my 2006 physical, I have lost 70 lbs there, too.

When I was talking to my doctor, I told her a little about lifetime and goal weights. I asked her what a "reasonalble weight" would be for me...

Keep in mind -- the WW standard says I should be (at MAXIMUM) 153. My doctor recommended 165.

I am 185 right now.

Am I the only one who thinks the BMI and recommended weight range charts are out of whack???

P.s. I weigh today if I can make it to the meeting... I've been VERY busy and haven't been to a meeting in 2 weeks!

On another note... Has anyone else bought the Hungry Girl Cookbook?

I got it last week and....

I LOVE IT!

I highly recommend it!

Ms. Heimlich --
You are absolutely NOT ALONE in thinking the charts are out of whack! I have not been near a "goal weight" for myself in over 20 years, but I plan to get back to MY "normal" weight and see my doctor then. I am sure I will have to get a note from him about this as far as WW is concerned. (They will accept this, you know. As a matter of fact, my own LEADER had to do this back when she was just a regular member.) When I was losing weight in high school (TOO MANY years ago), I reached 135 (I'm 5'3") and my doctor said I had lost too much, and he insisted that I put back on another 10, making 145 lbs my goal weight. He said my bone structure was that of a MUCH taller person, and that I should never try to reach for a goal of less than this. Now, I'm over 40, and while I'm not close enough to really focus on this yet, I can imagine that my new goal may even be 5 pounds higher now than it was back in HS. BUT I will cross that bridge when I get there. WW wants me to weigh no more than 141!!!:scared1: No way!:sad2: BTW, congrats on having lost 70 lbs since your '06 physical!:cheer2: Also, thanks for the tip on the Hungry Girl Cookbook. I saw a Hungry Girl recipe on the back of my Fiber One cereal box just this morning and thought I'd give it a try sometime. (Onion Rings - baked, of course - yum! )

DisneyMOM09 --
Tell me more about these muffins. . . Which cake mix? How many muffins does this yield? How many points/muffin? Bake for how long at what temp? I've never tried this one, and it sounds perfect for that lovely time of the month when I think I'm going to chew my foot off if I don't get some chocolate. ;)

If agree 100% that the goal weight is out of whack too. Back in the cough, cough 1960's when I was a teenager I weighed 133 lbs never went up never went down. I always thought I was fat then yet when I look at pictures of myself I realize how really good I looked. Normal, healthy, and not a bit fat! (I'm 5 ft) Now, once I get anywhere to the 140's I'm calling it a goal weight.

I'm thinking 140's would give me 18 points a day plus whatever you get on maintenance. I think today they said it was 2 more? I need to be able to live with a reasonable point allowance. 20 I know I can live with less then that and I'll be off the wagon quicker then you can blink!

I too have just found the hungry girl website. It's great. I love that onion, I'm thinking of trying it out this weekend.

Lost .4 lbs today. I'll take it it was a loss not a stall and it's in the right direction. Onward and downward!

Another one on board with disbelieving the goal weight they set for you. I am happy to lose 50lbs but WWs thinks I need to lose 80:scared1: I haven't been 150 since high school (I am 6'):confused3 I am going to ignore them and go to where I am comfortable. MY Dh said I better not lose my "front and Back":sad2:

Okay, so I am in a slump. I am not coming anywhere close to getting in 5 servings of fruits and veggies. How do you girls do it? Also where can I find serving sizes? Some sizes I m not sure on. I am getting milks, oils, and waters in now. I just can't seem to get the veggies and fruits in.

Congrats on all the losses ladies. I skipped my meeting tonight because I am kinda bummed from scale hopping at home so much:rolleyes1

DznyDreams~ You use one cake mix add one diet soda (diet sprite for your light colored cakes, and dark colored diet sodas for your dark cake mixes.) Mix together and pour into a muffin pan, you can make 12 and they are 2 points (according to someone else's recipe, I would do the points for my cake mix to be sure). I had enough batter to make 18 coming in at a point and a half. Bake as directed on your cake mix! They are absolutely delicious!!! If you want or need frosting add a tbsp of whipped topping (of course check the points for this and add those accordingly) I don't really think they need the whipped topping, and you are so right, perfect for that time of the month!! My husband and children all love them. We always have dessert after our family dinners on Sunday, so I am looking forward to serving these and knowing I am enjoying a treat and staying on track!

Mary Anne --
Congrats on the loss!!

I am dreading my weigh in tomorrow. I have been good all week, but for some reason, I'm retaining water right now. :guilty: I've probably been a little too free with the processed foods. Even if I do not go above my daily points allowance, if I eat too many processed foods, I pay. :(

natenapril --
I have days when I struggle with the fruits/veggies too. I try to include a fruit with my Fiber One cereal in the mornings (i.e., strawberries, blueberries, or bananas). If I am hungry for a "real breakfast" (one with eggs, etc.), I stir fry a 1/2 cup of veggies and make a veggie/egg scramble. And my #1 favorite, which might sound really weird, is sliced tomatoes with cottage cheese. As far as serving sizes go, I just go by the information in the week #1 material (page 76 of the Eat Wisely booklet). Half a cup = 1 serving. (Unless its is a leafy vegetable, then it takes 1 full cup to make a serving.) Is that what you had in mind?

DisneyMOM09 --
:thanks:That is awesome!:thumbsup2 I can't wait to give those a try.

On another note... Has anyone else bought the Hungry Girl Cookbook?

I got it last week and....

I LOVE IT!

I highly recommend it!

I bought it and love it as well. So far two of my favorites are the Dan Good Chili and the Death by Chocolate cupcakes....both are awesome and yummy!!

I agree about the goal weight of WW being off for me too. My suggestion is to talk to your doctor about what is right for your body type and age and if your doctor doesn't think it is reasonable she/he can write a note to WW of what she thinks your goal weight should be and WW had to honor it. I did that because I didn't think WW weight was reasonable for my age and being able to maintain and had no problems. The good thing for me is I am 10 pounds under what the doctor recommended and have been maintaining it for some time (this weight is 5 pounds over WW recommendations).

THanks Diane. Not sure how I missed that in the week one book. That is my quicke reference book for points too.

Where are you guys getting this cookbook? Was it at a meeting? Or a store? I skipped my meeting this week(bad, bad:) ) and I didn't really look at the cook books last time.

That's crazy! I did not even really look at my goal in the WW book until after I talked to my Dr. Her goal of 150 for me was the max in the WW book. I have 10 more pounds to go and then I will bring a note to WW. My DR said we will talk about 140 after I have maintained the 150 for 1 year.

I try to include fruit in my breakfast and tend to make a lot of salads with some sort of grilled protein for lunch. I also make vegetable soups often so that I can make sure to get veggies in. I looked at WW healthy guidelines the way I look at FLylady and try to make each guide;line a habit. I work on one at a time. My more difficult one is that darn vitamin :confused3

If you told me that you were scale hopping I would tell you to get rid of the scale. One of the gals in our meeting was weighing herself a few times a week and coming away depressed. That was counter productive to what she was trying to do....sent her to look for something to eat. I don;t own one and I think I am happier.

Quick question for any of you. I had lunch with my DH this afternoon and could not resist the molten lava cake with whipped cream:guilty:. It was really good and worth the points. But I cannot find out how many to count fpr the cake. Anyone have any idea?

I went to the WW online site and put in choc lava cake. It came up 7 points for 1/2 cup. A tablespoon of whipped cream is 3 points. So at a minimum I'd figure 10 points for the cake.

I too do not own a scale. I get weighted once a week at WW on Thursday morning about 8 am.

I found the easiest way to take the vitamin is at night right after I eat dinner. If I take it in the morning it upsets my stomach too much

Oh Oh! The cake was about 1 cup or so and I had the whipped cream about 1/4 cp, and then there was creme anglaise. I had 13 points left for the week so I had way more than I should have had. Maybe I can get some AP's in to help. Thanks for the help, better that I know ans am prepared so if it impacts me on Monday i am prepared.

I did not post my weigh in the week before last but I had gained 1.8 pounds. I was a little sad but I knew that I was snacking alot.

This past week I lost 4 pounds. This brings my total loss at WW to 23 pounds.

I am hoping for another 4 pounds week.:thumbsup2

What a wonderful recovery! I think posting the little setbacks can help as much as sharing those big strides forward. I am a master of "denial" which is how I got here in the first place.

Good luck this week!
