I need to start something .... some sort of "lifestyle" change. I"v done WW'ers a million times and what always gets me is that i dont have time to go to the meetings...and i just dont connect in the meetings. The meetings are always a whole bunch of, in my opinion, "skinny" ladies, the one fat man in the back and two other fat ladies in the corner. The "skinny" ladies always complain and whine .... and hog the meeting. I just dont related.

Has anyone done WW online? Is it worth it? It seems more expensive to do it online!

I was doing it online, but I needed the accountability of being weighed-in. To me if you know how the TurnAround program works and the points system, then you can do it all on your own. Plus, the message boards keep you in check...they are as busy as the DIS boards. Hope this helps and good luck with whatever you choose! :goodvibes

I've tried doing WW at the meetings(more times than I can count) but after a few weekd it would seem like a chore to get there. Now I've started doing it online and every morning I log in and I preplan my food for the day, always leaving a few points open for impulse. Plus online calculating the exercise points are a breeze! I have been doing all sorts of workouts, trying out different things so I don't get bored, and Tae Bo gives you crazy exercise points :thumbsup2 ! I haven't tried the message borads there though, but I'm sure it would be a great idea!

I've done online before--really liked it. Now I mostly just use the support forums at www.dwlz.com. Their boards are much better that the WW boards. Go check it out! The people over there are super supportive.

thanx, i did'nt know dwlz had message boards... i use to find restraunt points on that site all the time.

It's more expensive to do it online? Not in my area. It's $10-$12/week for meetings here so figure $40-$48/mo on average. But it's only $17/mo for online. To me it's soo worth it. I never got much out of the meetings. I love doing it online, though I've had to cut back on overall expenses and have stopped for a short time. Possibly it's the initial fee that seems to make it more expensive? If you can do the 3 month plan it's only $65 for 3 months then $17/mo after that.

I found the web site to be very useful for me. Especially since I'm a single gal, the meal ideas were great at showing me that it was possible to make dinner for one and not have tons of leftovers that I wind up munching on.

I'd say give it a shot, if you don't like it after 3 months then drop it.

I have the same question as the original poster! I have been going to the meetings but don't really feel like I get much out of them. And price wise it looks like it will be quite a bit cheaper to do it online. What kinds of things do you have access to online that seems to help in your weight loss? Thanks :goodvibes

For me the biggest help was the meal ideas. I'm single and trying to figure out how to 'cook for one' isn't the easiest.

I went to WWonline, could someone explain the difference between the core plan & the flex plan? The point system, how do you know how many points to consume each day?

How many points you get each day depends on your weight. I weigh 222 and get 26 points. When you go to the meetings or sign up online they will give you a chart that tells how many points each weight range gets. With the flex plan you get your number of daily points (mine's 26) and you get 35 "flex" points to use however you wish during the week. You don't have to use the "flex" points but you can if you want. The core plan has a list of food that you are allowed and you can't eat anything that is not on that list. Core plan followers also get the 35 "flex" points to use for things that are not on the "core" list. If you have any more questions or need clarification on anything just ask me!! :goodvibes

I've ONLY done WWonline, never been to a "live" meeting ever. When I first started WW 4 years ago, is when I did the online. I only paid for about the first 6 months, but by then I had the system down, and mostly just used the site for recipe ideas AND the message boards. That's where I got my support those first years. I made some very good friends there, and have been up and down with this maintenance thing for the past year or so.

Good luck to you, OP, and everyone else. It can be done! :sunny:
