Last night our leader wrote the following on the board:

1. You may have anything you want in life..........

Then she wrote

Provided that you know exactly what you want.

2. Want it badly enough.

3. Confidently expect to get it.

4. Persitently determime to obtain it.

5. You are willing to pay the price.

We talked about each statement-

1. You can't get what you want, if you don't know what it is that you want. You need to set specific goals. Saying- I want to loose weight, doesn't give you an idea of what you expect.

2. You must really want it. Those that say I want to loose weight, but aren't ready to make the commitment will not loose weight. They must want it badly enough.

3. If you aren't confident that you can do it, you wont. If you say.......I think I can loose 25 pounds by Thanksgiving, or maybe I will, you are confident that you will and will more than likely not achieve your goal.

4. If you are persistant and determined, you will succeed.

5. You must be willing to pay the price, no matter what it is. If it means that you must give up food at a party, or make other sacrifices, you must do it.

___________

She gave 3 people a piece of paper with an instruction on it. They went to different corners of the room and she told them to look at the paper and do what it says. The paper said walk. Each person started walking around the room. She asked how they knew how far to walk, when to walk etc. Each person said that it said to walk, so they just did.

I am not sure what point it was supposed to make, she gets sidetracked sometimes. Maybe she missed telling us the point, or maybe I failed to grasp it!

_____________

Then she handed us a handout- to set goals

Winning Outcomes- Tools for living
A winning outcome is:

-Stated in the positive.
-Specific (who, where, when, what and how specifically)
-Within my control
-A good fit with my life. (Will I have to give up any of the posititves in my life that come with the way things are now? Am I willing to do that? If not, how will I modify my Winning Outcome so that it fits with my life?)

Briefly describe the outcome you want to achieve at WW's.

Outcome -

Checklist:
-Is your outcome stated in the positive?
-Within your control?
-Specific?
- A good fit with your life?

If any of these conditions is missing, rewrite your outcome and include the missing condition. If you like, review it with your leader before, during or after your next meeting.

Outcome-

We talked about eating out. One person went to a diner and was having a hard time getting them to make it fit her needs. She told them she was on WW's, and was trying to get them to fix it differently for her. She wanted half a chicken breat, they brought her half a chicken (whole) and she could only eat a little of the breast meat. There wasn't much breast meat and they put gravy on the entire plate. We talked about how you have to demand things, but that because of lack of knowledge, lack of caring and education that waiters/watresses don't do what you ask. We all agreed that chain restaruants are better than diner's in getting what you want. Every place is different.

She shared a recipe for a cake:

2 boxes jello - made regular way
1 angel food already baked
fruit (2 cups cut up)
2 tubs FF cool whip

Once the jello is firm like light mayo (slighly firm), add 1 tub of cool whip. Add fruit. Rip cake into pieces. Put seran wrap in bottom of a cake pan (like a bundt or angel food pan). Add cake, put jello mixture over top. Put in refrigerator over night. The next day lift out of pan by the plastic. Put the 2nd tub of cool whip over cake like frosting. 1/12 of cake = 1 point.

That was our meeting. Also , if anyone wants to add from their own meeting, this could be helpful also.

Melanie

Sounds like a great meeting. Lessons that can be applied to all aspects of life. Thanks for sharing that with us. I'm printing it up and posting it in the kitchen. (I don't put anything on the refridgerator door, otherwise I'm heading in that direction, and it's difficult to pass up. I find I'm more successful with my inspirational messages near the sink. Reminds me to drink my water and avoid "trigger "situations)

Keep the Faith!

Perhaps the "walking" was an illustration of the fact that you cannot succeed without a plan. If you don't have a plan you could just go in circles or not walk far enough or not quickly enough.

You need a plan to succeed :)

Excellent lesson this week. Now, go post this recipe on our new EATING HEALTHY BOARD. Please?

Ok, I posted the recipe!! Thanks Katholyn, I am sure that was what she was getting at.

Melanie

Thanks for posting this Melanie :) I like it a lot and I think it applies to some many areas of life. I also like your recipe for the cake! I've been looking for something sweet and low in points that I can eat at the end of the day :)

We haven't been doing much at our WW meetings lately ... there are still lots of members at my meetings who are confused about the FPs.

Thanks for sending the topic and information. That is the one thing that I miss about not going to the meetings. Thanks for taking the time to share with us.
Tammy

Yummmm! That cake sounds great AND it's a low point treat!!

Thanks for posting the topic at your meeting, Melanie! These topics always make me think!! :D (Can you hear the rusty wheels turning ;) )

Our leader talked about goals. She told us about 3 kinds of goals:

1) Transistion goals - these are temporary or very short term goals, and will be the first goal you set. An example would be the decision to join WW.

2) Interim goals- Also a short term goal. An example might be that you will exercise every day for 30 min.

3) Long term goals - (kind of self-explanatory)This would be a goal that would take a longer time to reach. An example would be that I will lose 100 pounds.

She passed out postcards and had us address them to ourselves. On the back we each wrote our goals and she is going to mail them to us later on. It will be interesting to see how I have done in keeping them.

We got the activity booklet this week and she spent some time discussing activity points. The new program says that you must use your activity points in the day you earn them and you should only use 4 per day.

We also talked some about Dr. Phil's special. Most people liked the show, I don't think anyone had bought the book yet, but several said they would.

Melanie,

Thanks for posting the topic. It was a good one for me to hear since this is my first week. I have to make sacrafices, I can't keep doing what I've done in the past. This is a better lifestyle for me and it is going to take some adjusting to, but it is worth it.

You know we discussed the exact same topic at my meeting this morning ... I didn't want to tell everyone else that I already read about it on DIS earlier in the week *lol* :p

Thank-you for posting this, it is very helpful to me! I think my long trem goal is to walk everyday. Why is it that something that makes me feel so much better I hardly ever take the time to do?:D

One thing to those making the cake. Use Sugar Free kind.

Bunnyfoo- OMG that is too funny. I had a feeling that they get the meeting topics directly from WW's.

Mousie Dreamer- Thanks for sharing. I love the postcard idea!

DisneyCrazyMom- I know what you mean. I just started exercising faithfully, I don't know what was making me wait.

Melanie

Melanie ,

Our leader did the same thing this week also with the three peices of paper and it said to walk and the volunteers did, when she asked how did they know when to stop they said they didnt. I think the point she was trying to make is that we need to be specific in the goals that we make otherwise we lose track of the reason why we are doing it or when to start or stop :)

Thanks KalicoKat........
Actually, now that you said that..........she did say how did you know when to stop and they said we didn't.

It makes sense now, I must have been trying to pay attention to hard.

Thanks,
Melanie

That cake sounds great! I want to try it, but I realized I didn't know how much cake to use. I was going to get one of those tube shaped ones in the bakery. Then I found some square 8 oz. ones.

Any idea what I should use?

I dont' think it matters, since you tear it up and build your own cake again. Just remember to try to add up the points and divide by 1/12, incase what you use has different points. It should still be roughly about the same.
