Although I will be going to Disney in November, my family will be driving to Miami on April 1 for a cruise. We will be driving from NY and in the car for about a day and a half. We drive once or twice a year to Florida but usually bring junk snacks, chips, etc. I bring fruit too for the kids and me but they eat a little of both.
I want to try to be good for the drive down. I follow WW. What do you guys suggest I pack for the trip to snack on? I'll pack fruit, salad in a zip lock bag but what else? Thanks SO much!!! :) :)

Baby carrots ! Cut up lots of celery to go along with it. And maybe some Rice cakes. I totally know what you mean about the "car snacks" being junk food. Make sure you drink your water too.

Funny you posted this. I was just planning on what I am going to bring for our car ride to WDW in April. DH and I are following Atkins so I plan to bring ham and cheese roll ups, raw broccoli with ranch dip, ATkins bars and chicken caesar salad that I can mix on a stop!!

My kids will eat typical fast foods and much on junk foods!! Nice to be young and skinny!!!

Have a great trip!

Any low points snack would be fine. I like the Quakes. Celery is good and the baby carrots..0 points. Popcorn (fat free of course) We're driving down in May and we'll have our cooler for lunches and drinks so we don't have to stop and eat at fast food places on the way. I'm also taking breakfast foods for the hotel, we have a fridge in the room. Special K breakfast bars are good and only 2 points per bar.

I like to snack on junk during long car drives. To me junk is cookies, candy and chips. I would bring the same things, just low point versions. You are heading for vacation you know. I know during our car ride in April, I plan on packing fruit but you won't find a celery stick or carrot in our car. I like the popcorn idea. I also love the low fat chewy granola bars for 2 points. Cotton candy is my new favorite. It is a total junk food but it takes a while to eat 1/2 the bag and that is only 2 points (for 1/2). Think about what foods you think you will crave or would usually have on a car trip and replace them with very similar low point versions. This way you don't feel like you are dieting. Good luck! Have a safe trip and enjoy!:wave2:

Thanks for all the suggestions. I don't diet while I am on vacatoin but between the drive and then arriving a day prior, it will be almost 3 days until I get on my cruise and I don't want to cheat for three days before I even get on the ship :)
I like the carrots and celery idea and some rice cakes. I drink loads and loads of bottled water (we have them at work) but unfortunately, when you are driving, can't do this LOL My husband would freak if he had to stop every 30-60 minutes for a bathroom break LOL We limit what the kids drink in the car and will have to do the same for myself.
I will also make my diet popcorn and bring that with me too. I usually have 1/2 bagel for breakfast with jelly, a usually eat a big salad or ww for lunch and diet popcorn for dinner (I eat my big meal at lunch).
I can still eat 1/2 bagel or maybe some yogurt at the hotel for breakfast in the morning and if we stop, even fast food, can get a side salad for my lunch. I was/is worried about the drive but as always my dis friends always come through! :)
Thanks very much for all the help and suggestions.

Have you tried pretzels? Snyder's makes individual serving bags and the whole bag is 3 points and very filling. I like the individual bags because it does the portion control for me. I also like Boston's Lite Popcorn-1 point per bag.

Maybe you should try to find some games you can do on the ride to keep you busy.

Have a great trip!

Soy Crisps are a WONDERFUL alternative to chips! They're loaded with soy protein, and they're salty like the chips too, and depending on the brand, only about two points per bag.

As some have mentioned, carrots and celery are good. I'd HIGHLY reccomend prepping your fruit and veggies before you leave. Fruit is a lot more appetizing when it's already cut up and in salad form. :)

You could also get some WW 2 point bars. Those would be great. Just keep them in a cooler so the heat doesn't make the chocolate melt.

Have a great trip!

I was going to say soy crisps too, they are so good. I know some people say they don't like soy but you have to try it, they are good!!! If you are packing a cooler I would throw in some individually packed sugar free Jell-o and disposible spoons. Also some gum so you don't feel like snacking the whole car trip. Some of the pre-package cereals aren't that bad for points. Lastly have you tried the KUDOS bars. I love the snickers one- only 2 points.
I love this tread we are going to be driving on our trip and I haven't thought of some of these.

I've never tried soy crisps. Can I just buy them in the supermarket where they sell regular chips?
I really do enjoy eating salads. I was thinking about making one and putting in a zip lock and then buying those disposable containers. We will have our cooler with us. So for me (and if the kids want) I'll pack the celery, baby carrots, salad and I'm going to look for the soy crisps. I will pack some bananas and a few apples. But once I get to Miami and start my cruise, all bets are off :) I'd love to hear some more ideas :) :)

The store I shop and work at as a whole section for natural and organic products and that's where we keep the soy crisps. Not sure how other stores work. I buy the ones from GenSoy..love the apple cinnamon. Quakes are found with the regular foods. I usually buy the chedder cheese, but last night I tried the caramel and they were so good I had to go buy some.

I have found Soy Chips at Walgreens and our grocery store in the natural/organic food section. I have tried 2 different brands Gen-Soy and Soy Crisps. I liked them both Soy Crisps had a great Bar-b-que flavor that was really good and Gen-Soy has a natural Sea Salt that is very tasty. Hope this helps.

Thank you. I will be leaving next Thursday and will be out on Wednesday getting my carrots, celery and now soy crips LOL
Thank you all :)
