I’m planning a trip next year for the first time in over 10 years. Previously I avoided roller coasters but planning on giving them another go.

anyone got any recommendations on a list of working my way up the intensity?

Your best bet is starting off with Goofy's Barnstormer, followed by Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, then go to Slinky Dog. Those are the more tame of the WDW coasters. See how you handle those before you move on to the more formidable ones. After that, you may wanna try Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - that one doesn't have any loops....hope this helps.

Barnstormer is a small and quick one. It’s both of my daughters’ first rollercoaster. I put Seven Dwarves first because it was designed and modeled by computer which I find to be smoother than the older coasters. The cars themselves sway back and forth which actually stabilizes the car as you turn. The coaster is also built into the topography of the ride so you never are “above land” so to speak or on an open support structure if any sort of fear of heights is an issue. Finally there is a “slowed down” part in the middle with animatronics.

Slinky Dog was also designed and modeled with computers and so it’s smooth but it’s definitely a step up in from Barnstormer/Seven Dwarves in terms of intensity. I’m a rollercoaster fanatic but if you can handle those two, it’s not a huge leap to go to Slinky Dog next. Its much less of a step than going from no rollercoasters to Barnstormer/Seven Dwarves.

I agree with the PP that I would try 7 Dwarfs first since it is "on land" the whole time instead of thin air. Big Thunder is similar in that it is built into the hilly ground instead of up on a metal frame. Another tip for starting out is to request near the front for a tamer ride. I only ride 7 Dwarfs, Barnstormer, Slinky, and Big Thunder. I don't know what would come next in intensity. Have fun with your new experiences!
