Wrapping Up the Year - December Exercise Thread

35 minutes since my last post brings me to 125/500. (Some was on the mini-trampoline, and some was walking outside, since the rather is still so warm here.)

My Sunday Thankful is family time. :grouphug: We all went out to get our tree yesterday and plan to decorate it together this afternoon. :santa:

Did a little better last week - 10 min. walk with puppy on Wed. and 15 min. walk on Fri. , bringing me to 55/200. This week will be crazy, with getting ready to leave for Disney on Sat.:santa: , and finishing all the shipping, wrapping, cleaning, etc. that needs to be ready for when we come back on Christmas Eve - aah! But will try to get in as many minutes as I can !

I took a few rest days as my Plantar tendon is really hurting. I felt better over the weekend so made up for lost time. Unfortunately, I shouldn't have pushed it so hard this weekend. I'm trying for at least a half hour today.

So I don't know your history with plantar issues, but I tore mine in the summer of 14. It is miserable and a long frustrating recovery. Take it easy, it is super important to rest it as much as possible. Also hugely helpful is stretching the calf, feet and Achilles. If you have a tennis ball or better even a lacrosse ball, rolling both your calves and bottoms if you feet with the ball will further help release tension. A ended up needing a boot to take all pressure off it. It was not fun!

I'm glad you're over your pain! I agree, it is miserable.

I've been dealing with Plantar Fasciitis since May. My ortho doctor gave me exercises and stretches to do. However, for the last several months, my stubbornness has outweighed the pain. Now that the real pain is back, I'm doing the stretches, ball rolls and rolling a frozen water bottle during the day and putting on the boot at night (I refused to wear it at work) Also I'm limiting the exercise to the recumbent bike and maybe 30 minutes of walking split into 2 - 3 times of 10 - 15 minutes just to get out of my desk chair during the day. I have high hopes that I can finally get rid of this pain now that I'm starting to take the treatment seriously.

My mom has had plantar fasciitis for years also. She does all of the stretches, frozen water bottle rolled under her foot, etc and her exercise routine is going swimming at the gym she belongs to and riding her exercise bike at home. When we do Disney trips, we rent a wheelchair for her since that much walking gets to be very painful for her.

I was a slug this weekend and didn't exercise at all. I'll probably be shoveling snow tomorrow morning since there's another storm coming in tonight so I should have some minutes to add tomorrow!
