Wrapped stocking stuffers?

Our kids love to unwrap gifts. They even take large pieces of leftover gift wrap and go in their rooms and wrap something, then come out and give it to their sibling!

So, of course EVERYTHING gets wrapped, including everything in the stocking -- even candy bars) and nothing gets put under the tree (except gifts for other family members) until everyone is in bed on Christmas Eve.

Santa usually wrapped some stocking gifts in my family. We didn't always have enough money for big gifts when I was growing up so Santa wrapping the little ones made it seem like we got more.

That's how it was in our house growing up. I've continued it with our family. For us it's a nice touch, especially in years were finances are tough. Every piece to unwrap adds to the day :)

Always wrapped Santa gifts in different paper and I still wrap everything in the stockings. My 26 year old still loves it and has started the tradition with her DH. He still doesn't get it. Growing up our presents were unwrapped from Santa.

Santa wraps everything, stocking or not. Absolutely nothing goes unwrapped, and if at all possible, nothing goes in a gift bag.

I was a little surprised to see on here that Santa wraps some people's stocking gifts. Does he at your house?

Santa doesn't wrap any gifts here.

No, we have never wrapped stocking stuffers. They are already inside a stocking. As a kid myself, and now, watching my own children, it's fun just pulling each item out and inspecting it and seeing what your siblings got in theirs.

I hope everyone on Disboards, who celebrates, has a very Merry Christmas!

Yep, Santa wraps stocking gifts and his gifts under the tree. We also don't have ANY gifts under the tree before Christmas Eve. Santa puts them all there after we're asleep.:)

Santa doesn't wrap here. They go in the stocking which is the 'wrapping'. If its unwrapped its from Santa. Presents from Mom, Dad & whoever else are wrapped & under the tree. And stuff goes under the tree once its wrapped. No waiting until Christmas Eve although with my ADD tendencies they usually go under the tree a few at a time because I can't sit & do long wrapping sessions.

I really don't care whether someone wraps Santa presents or not. To each their own. However, to think my kids can't tell whats from Santa because its not in special 'Santa paper' is just ridiculous. My kids don't know about 'Santa paper' because we don't do that. And they still have plenty to open as I wrap darn near anything (books 1 at a time, etc).

Mom and Dad wrap their gifts but Santa does not. Didn't you know?

It's amazing what you learn on the Dis!!! This is the first place that I had EVER heard of "Santa gifts" vs "Mom & Dad gifts". Growing up, whatever was under the tree and in your stocking was from Santa. And everything under that tree was wrapped. The ONLY time I ever remember something NOT being wrapped was one year my parents got us each a punching bag. :confused3 (you know, the kind that you blow up and you just punch away, not the kind that pro boxers use to warm up LOL) My parents blew them all up ahead of time and had them standing next to the tree. Boy, let me tell you, when my brother, sister and I got up in the middle of the night to scope out what was under the tree and we rounded the corner into the living room and saw the shadows of 3 small figures next to the tree, we about laid a golden brick, right then and there. :scared1: We thought they were some of Santa's elves. LOL

Anyways.....so when I had kids (they're 13 and 15 now) Santa brought everything, everything was wrapped and I think maybe a couple years everything in the stockings were wrapped. So some years I did wrap everything, some years I didn't. This year, I didn't.

I know it's been brought up on here before about getting movies or video games or things that like that to put in the stocking. Some people think it cost too much $$$ to put in a stocking but the way I think of it is.....if it fits in the stocking, it'll go in the stocking no matter what the cost. And those gifts were ALWAYS wrapped before going into the stocking.

As for having special Santa paper, I've never heard of that before either. I just buy whatever paper strikes my fancy and wrap away. And EVERYTHING goes under the tree once everyone is in bed (my youngest actually told me to keep up this tradition. He said if he sees ahead of time what's under the tree, it just spoils the surprise) My oldest of course, could give a hoot....he's been begging me to open his stuff all week. But to each his own, no way is the wrong way, whatever works for your family is the right way. So just keep doing what you do and don't worry what anyone else thinks!!!

Merry Christmas!!! :santa:

With two tiny ones, we have yet to have had a Christmas where the kids want to open more than 1 or 2 presents before they get bored with the whole thing and want to play with the toys. So right now I don't wrap the stockings, but plan to when they get older, especially when their 'toys' get really expensive and there will be less to open.

I was shocked to read that Santa doesn't wrap gifts at some houses. Everyone would know what the gifts are!!!?!!??.

Yea me too-- I would be disappointed to walk into the living room and see a bunch of stuff open on Christmas morning!

Me too. LOL I mean like truly SHOCKED! :scared1:

About as shocked as I was to find out that some people don't use a top sheet on their beds.  (Which is why, I assume, Bed Bath and Beyond always ends up with markdowns on top sheets.)
::

I use a top sheet but always buy seperates because I like a full fitted sheet on the bottom and a queen sheet on top!

Yeah, everything in the stockings are wrapped. I think it makes it much more fun :)

:woohoo::thumbsup2 I wrap everything too- even candy and chapstick get wrapped for the stocking!

Santa doesn't wrap any gifts here.

He does this year- there will be less under our tree so I'm wrapping the stocking stuffers to make things last longer. He always wraps the gifts he brings! My kids are 21 and almost 14, but I still like to play the Santa game... they go to bed, the tree is bare, they wake up and there are gifts!

Santa wraps all our gifts here (unless they are too big to wrap). They are wrapped in special Santa paper too..that started one year when my oldest DD commented on how Santa had the same wrapping paper we did..oops!

When I was little, or stocking presents were wrapped and the stocking put on our beds in the middle of the night...when we woke up at 3:00 am it gave us something to open without bothering my parents.

Of course, since it's now Xmas Eve and I haven't wrapped any stocking stuffers yet, I am sort of regretting carrying on this tradition:laughing:

Exactly the same at our house this year. We always wrap the gifts, but this year the stocking stuffers are getting wrapped also to draw out the fun.

Exactly. For me that would just be such a big bummer. You walk down and everything is just there....unwrapped....no surprise, no mystery.....for me personally that is just bizarre.....it seems like, what's the point?

All the traditions are different for everyone and to each their own....unwrapped presents just seems like such a letdown to me. :(

Merry Christmas to everyone no matter what your traditions!

Wait, what if Santa is bringing something big like a dollhouse, or a play kitchen, or a bicycle? Does he wrap that?

Personally, I think it's much more magical to wake up and have a new toy set up and ready to play with than to open a wrapped cardboard box!

Santa is not wrapping any stocking stuffers this year. With DD being only 17 months, he knows Christmas morning is going to be overwhelming enough as it is!

But Santa always just brings our kids one, big gift, so to come down and see that near the fireplace is a huge surprise. They get to play with that and look through their stockings before we start opening all the wrapped gifts from eachother.

Santa doesn't fill the stockings here. Mom and Dad always have done that for Santa. Santa brings one or two gifts from the list. Mom and Dad give the rest.

Stocking gifts are not usually wrapped. Except this year, I have some DVD's that I wrapped as gifts, but then changed my mind and put them in the stockings.

My kids are 11 and 15, btw....Santa isn't the man he once was...:rotfl:

I'm talking about when the vast majority of things are unwrapped. Not one thing.

I've never heard of Santa only bringing one thing before the DIS. I always love learning about different traditions from my fellow DIS'ers :)
