After reading many reviews here, I ordered the tonga toast from Kona Cafe (at the Polynesian). IT WAS MY FAVORITE MEAL I HAVE EVER HAD AT DISNEY! It was delicious! Thanks for the recommendation!

it is yummy! usually we have 4 adults and order one for the table. i'm so glad you enjoyed it!:yay:

I have been hearing soooo much about Tonga Toast that I am finally going to try it for the first time in 2 weeks.

I am hoping DH will step out of his box and try it with me.

I was lucky to snag a breakfast ressie at Kona 2 weeks out :cool1:.

I so want to try the tonga toast on our next trip. Is the tonga toast that is on the menu at Captain Cooks the same as Kona? Do I have to make sure I get a Kona ADR instead of just trying it at Captain Cooks?

I've only had the tonga toast at Kona but I saw a pic of it from Capt Cooks here on dis & it looked identical. :)

I'm sure someone will be able to give you a more definite answer though.

At Kona you get strawberry compote to go with it, if you desire. At Capt. Cooks it is just served with pancake syrup. In my opinion it doesn't need either of these with all that cinnamon sugar all over it, but I do indulge a few bites with the strawberry compote.

Also the sausage that comes with the meal is different. I didn't care for Kona's hawaian sausage, so will get bacon from now on. Capt Cooks serves brown and serve sausages with it.

The Lilikoi Juice at the Kona is to die for too!

I have a reservation next week Thursday for Kona. I am up in the air about it. My husband and nephew will be on the Segway tour at EPCOT on this morning so it will be me, nephews girlfriend and my two kids. We are on DDP but this meal will be OOP. We will have plenty of CS credits left thats why I am sure because I could just get Tonga Toast at Capt Cooks with a CS credit. I was planning on getting an order Tonga Toast, and the Big Kahuna and split it with me and the kids. :confused3 Not sure. :rotfl2:

I got it for the first time this past Tuesday Aug 4th, for my bday and it was ooooh sooo gooood. I dipped it in the strawberry stuff and it was even better...

I love tonga toast! I tried to re-create it this morning, but nothing can compare to the original.

I was really excited about the Tonga Toast too......Untill I found out it was filled with bananas.....I dont like bananas!!!! so boo hoo for me....but im glad everyone else enjoys it.

yum. Tonga Toast, Kilikoi juice, and a nice french press pot of kona coffee. That sounds so good, I just went online and made a reservation for this weekend. We'll be there Sunday at 11:00 am. I can't wait!

I know I am the odd man out on this one, but I tried it once from Capt Cooks and didn't enjoy it..... it was just soooo filling, too much dough, and flavorless..... Maybe I just got a bad one? I dunno but I wasn't impressed.... Maybe I will have to give it another go this trip to see if its different!

Sooooo looking forward to our trip in three weeks and trying Tonga Toast - we're going to order a Tonga Toast and a breakfast platter and split them between the two of us.

Also, for those that have a Mimi's Cafe nearby they have a stuffed blueberry french toast on their menu that has blueberries and strawberries and a strawberry compote on top that is similar to Tonga Toast but with berries instead of bananas - very tasty! :)

For our trip next week, we have a reservation made at Kona for both breakfast and dinner, and we were leaning towards cancelling breakfast and doing the dinner, but all of this talk about Tonga Toast has made me want to try breakfast as well!

What should I do?! :confused3

Is everyone sure you can't get the strawberry syrup at Cook's?

Yeah you can only get it at Kona... or if you are staying at the Poly and you have it delivered to your room in the morning, it comes with it.

Tonga Toast is sooooo good!! Love love love it!:cloud9:
