I think with DL it's important to choose what is worth your money. Many of us do need to save up, including myself. For me, $3 will not stop me! For others, it may. If fast passes ever cost money, I may not choose to spend my money on them. However, I will still go!

It is quite unfortunate to be used to getting embroidery free and then be told it is now $3. But sometimes, that's how it goes.

In the end, it depends on what's worth it to the individual. As for me, I can't wait to build my own ears this trip! :yay:

Eh, $3 is fine with me. I usually save a lot to take with me and I only go to Disneyland once a year. So bring on the customizing!

Drat! There goes my idea of having "IDIS" in green thread on my ears. Do you think they would believe me if I said my name was Idis? ;)

I worked with a woman named Isis, it was her real name...lots of names that don't sound real but are... So idis could be real. Just not...I Dis. :)

i used to have a pituitary tumor that pushed on optical nerves and cause bad issues with my vision and IS prone to grow back and believe it has, as i am having these issues with vision again and headaches but there is not much i can do about it but wait for my MRI results and go back on meds if it is back.

Ugh, that sucks. Hubby has one of those, a prolactinoma, right now. Less than two months of taking the cabergoline and the changes in his body are amazing! All the extra squish he'd put on (while the scale was actually going down...very confusing) is just dissolving. Thankfully nothing was going on with his vision (however we do wonder if a sudden and BAD bout of glaucoma he had 4 years ago was perhaps the very very start of this, or we've also read that these things can start FROM stress, so maybe the glaucoma started the tumor?) but I can imagine it's scary.

My cousin has congenital cataracts and writes in all caps when she emails...it's not easy on me, but I don't say anything b/c I know. When people don't know, they ask why. I do use caps to emphasize b/c going to bold or italics breaks the flow of my thinking, however, on the internet, caps = yelling. Bold caps = screaming. It's definitely worth knowing, it might be worth mentioning as an "aside" when you're writing, might even be worth putting two spaces between your sentences (I feel that that would help my eyes read your sentences without getting confuzzled)....or just know that people are going to wonder why/if you're yelling. :)

they all have ears, and I can embroider there names at home for free. Im not paying what I can not afford or can do my self.

YOu have an embroidery machine at home!!!! Aw man I wish I had one of those. :) Well, as I mentioned before, we've all been paying for this, it's just not been obvious. So now it's obvious and you get a choice.

Did you know that the disneystore has some basic ears? If the kids like the basic ones, you could buy them ahead of time online (watch out for that shipping, though) and make the embroidery all fancy, and really impress people at the parks! Astonish and amaze the CMs. :)

I am a disney nut, but as you say its a vacation and yes money has to be spent, but your looking at your situation, not others and thats just not fair. See we all do not have big bucks, and scape our azz's off to get there so our kids can have there dreams fulfilled. I raise grand kids, single and work and can barely walk these days as I have severe debilitating back legs and neck damage, diabetes, and fibromyalgia. I work, do not get disability but work as hard as I can possibly do to make sure we get to go once a year. It takes me all darn year to save up, and you know what, $3,00 is not much, but it adds up with all the kids. they all have ears, and I can embroider there names at home for free. Im not paying what I can not afford or can do my self. Im not begrudging folks who can and do pay for it, for me its a choice not to pay it.
So your saying if we do not expect to spend a fortune then we just are not disney nuts? Pay for fast pass? It took me a year to save up for the food, motel the flights, parking for the car at the airport we have to drive 110 miles to get to. and to boot rent a scooter so I can get thru the park with out falling down every 10 feet. Please, please do not tell me Im not a disney nut for paying for embroidery, or even ever paying for fast passes, I just could not come up with the money. I raise 3 grand babys,( since birth) no help no child support, I work my azz off to get my babys to the park so when they grow up they can tell there kids..... my mom ( granny) did everything she could to get us to disneyland ! I think Im entitled to say hell no on some things :) at least hell no out of my pocket, and still be a disneyland lover :)

That is so sweet, you must be a wonderful person and an amazing mother to your grand children.:flower3:

okay well i think for 90 % of people it s just a vacation. BUT.... i have family who lives within 2 hours and they dont go all the time, almost never because they just dont. however if IIIIIIIIIII lived there id be there all the time lol. but i still consider it to be a vacation spot even when we live only 4 hours from. what i mean is, it is a vacation destination for most people, so people should expect to pay money for it. i mean its not like some, local theme park, or six flags or something. disney is a major park so i do expect them to treat it that way by keeping prices up on things. anyways, i dont think 3 bucks is alot though.
I wish we had a six flags and or some theme park!! we do not, and would have to drive a long way to find one. man my kids go nuts when the carnival comes to town.
vacation? whats that? My kids run me from morning until night, Im more tired when I come home form disneyland then if I just went to work every day LOL
and I wish I had family 2 hours from a park, That would save me a ton in motels :lmao:

Im not arguing with you , just letting you see a different side of life.....and income.[/QUOTE]

whoa whoa now see a different side of life? im sorry but complete judgement here. what in the world do you think my life is like? you think i can pull money out of my "azz" as you so lovely worded it? NO i cant! my husband and i both bring in an income, support our family, and are definetely SUPER well off! we save all year for vacation too, there is money set aside for it. and i cant save a ton of money because while i have some famly close to disney, first, im not gonna drive 2 hours every day for 4 days even if i could stay with them, but i cant because there is NO room with them, at all even if they tried to make room. and im tired too, i take care of 3 toddlers, one who is mine, daily, the others i babysit. why? cause i need the MONEY just like you and others! also am doing online college. will be changing shifts to work at night so i can work more days a week for more money and because i have never, and never will leave my son with a sitter and so i can continue to babysit for more extra money. so yes im tired, and live check to check too until im finished with schooling in 4 years! and the 6 flags is 4 hours away almost. its not something to do all the time. ive only been once and its no big deal. im just saying, EVEN being that we live check 2 check with minimal left over each month, i still dont have a problem with the 3 dollar thing or any other minor price hikes. the 100 dollar flash pash at six flags gave me a heart attack though:rotfl: but please do not think that i dont know. what "side" of life do you think im on? guess what? my husbands family was poor growing up, they lived in a basement, he has NEVER been on vacation. his first park at all was 6 flags last week. me, not so bad. i had what i needed and my mom scraped to take me to disney every couple-few years. but i was not a spoiled kid or even CLOSE! and am still not, i work hard for what we have and am very proud of it now. but trust me, i, and my husband especially know that side of life. but it just doesnt bother me, a few bucks here, or there, if im going there and know i will need to spend money anyways. if it were 10 bucks, it would bother me. im sorry to have to write a long letter to ya, but you need to understand, no im not some lazy person, i work hard, my husband works hard, we never had been spoiled, and we are always tired! and we live on a fixed budget. but it still doesnt bother us, and i gave my opinion on that. just like everyone else gave their opinion that it DID bother them. so anyways, i dont think you should jump to conclusions about people, it seems you thought i live some high life or something! trust me i dont. i live a good life, but tis' because we work for it, just like you. and please do not in any way think im being angry towards you at all, because im not. i just thought it seemed rude to make assumptions and try and make me see the other side of life, when you had no idea what "side" of life i live on myself. i commend you for taking care of your grandbabies and think its a wonderful thing of you to do. i think it takes alot of heart to do that and not have help. im glad for you and they are blessed to have you then. my grandparents were like my second parents. my grandpa was like my dad because my mom was single. so grandparents are like angels to their grandkids and i know that from personal experience. just please dont make anymore assumptions like that. i never implied in any way that it was easy for me to take a trip. we save too. and i am tired. i am just younger and it doesnt hit me as hard. my mom works hard and is tired too! most people are. most people know your lifestyle. its not a stranger to me at all. unfortunately most of us live this way most of our lives. i am hoping that i can just make it through school and change that for us. but that really hurt my feelings to hear someone make it sound like ive had some kind of silver spoon in my mouth when that is OH so far from the truth. working hard doesnt need to be recognized, but it shouldnt be written off either.

by the way after i proof read this i will take off the bold lettering for you since it bothers you:)

yep the changes after it shrinks are wonderful. i went through a pregnancy and went off the meds to breastfeed and they had told me there is a very high chance of it growing back. i never did the cabergoline, but i did parlodel. it helped within a month. i was actually infertile BECAUSE of the tumor, and thats how they found it. who knows how long it was there! and yeah, it made me FAT! lol. i mean i was 140 pounds but worked my butt off too lose the weight but i still had pudge all over. i got to 115 and still looked pudgy. i had retained alot of water for some reason, but they said it is common with the prolactinomas. i went to a fertility doc when we couldnt get preggo and they found it. has he had any MRIs after being on the meds? blessings and hopefully all goes well with it shrinking. the meds for these work very well.:)

ashpinoza- Paragraphs and punctuation are a good thing. :)

Your posts are very hard to read without them. :(

Sometimes you can get a CM who doesn't know the reference or is really nice. My good friend did RHPS for years and REALLY wanted a Columbia hat, like she wears in the movie (basic Mickey Ears with Columbia on the back), years ago she actually got a CM to make her one. She tried a second time and no luck.

I also go by Verucca in a Pirate group I am in and really wanted a pirate hat that said Verucca. The CM was not 100% positive it was my name but did do it. More recently though a friend with a more unusual name had to show her ID. Over all they tend to watch the names you chose but some CM's watch more then others.

But I would never encourage someone to do something against Disney rules, so you should never try and get a name that is not your own on a hat ;) :rotfl:

in what are you referencing to? i see nothing hard about reading anythiing i write at all. and IMO punctuations are a waste of time when i am typing and i feel that i can read it just fine. why would i type it's, instead of its, when ANYONE with common sense knows what i am writing. i guess internet abreviations such as BBL or TY shouldnt be used either then right? since many people dont know what it mean? but its faster to type and abrev. than the whole thing. atleast 75 percent of other posters dont puncuate either, because it is easier. but you didnt say anything to them eh? gee wonder why. some people have nothing better to do that be rude to someone who has never said a thing to them right? everybody has made my night:) sad i cant post my opinion without everyone getting pissed off, when everyone else posted so strongly of theirs. sorry i think that its rediculous to complain about 3 bucks, and yes i earn my own money to say that! im entitled to share just like anyone else is.

Sigh.:sad2:

The almost-hostile "tone" that I spoke of yesterday is returning to this thread, and I think it has run its course. It appears that any information the OP may have needed to confirm the rumor mentioned in her original post about the $3.00 charge for Ear-writing has been shared, and so I think I will close out the thread now.

Have a good night, everybody.:goodvibes
