There's quite a few more OKW contracts - maybe that longer ending date with SSR plays into people's decision right now. Pretty interesting.
Everything is relative.
For folks who would never use
DVC points for cruises or the various Collections, the change is no big deal. Like arthur06 above, they will wait in the hope that the price drops...as they should.
(Although one might want to weigh that possibility against the likelihood that Disney is going UP another $10 on DVC points, which might offset any negative effect of this change on resale prices.)
For those who would like to cruise, etc, (or aren't positive and don't want to
preclude that possibility), this is the time to buy.
Another example:
Here on the DIS, where the talk is all Disney, all the time, many see
longer contract terms as a
good thing.
With other systems, the forever and ever committment to annual maintenance fees is usually seen as a
BAD thing.
(In fact, that never-ending obligation is exactly why high-quality timeshare contracts are selling on eBay every night for $1.00 -- people want to get rid of the annual expense, and that far outweighs their interest in using their timeshare. Shorter term timeshare contracts are viewed as better by many people, because the obligation ends sooner.)
It's all about perspective. There is no
ONE right answer for every family or every situation.
