Just a quick list of things that are sensible to do on a Wireless Router for security reasons...
1. Change the access password. Most routers come with a default username and password e.g. Admin/Admin, it's always sensible to change the password and lots of people don't making their network really unsecure.
2. Hide the SSID (Network name). If it's not broadcasting itself then it's more difficult to connect to.
3. Only allow access to specific hardware. You should be able to set the router so it only allows pre-determined hardware to access the network. This is usually done by adding the computers MAC address to a list on the router and activating it to only allow access to the listed devices.
4. Set the security to use WPA or WPA2 encryption rather than WEP encryption as WEP can now be hacked in under 10 minutes using some freely downloadable programs from the internet.
Sorry for hijacking the thread, I hope you find the information useful.
