WOW, I never even knew this existed...

I think it is worth it... I am 37 and enjoyed using him in 2005... My family are going back in Novemeber and will use Pal Mickey again.... The only thing that I didn't like is the belt clip... But I think that the new ones come on a lanyard to hang around your neck.. He has lots of jokes for use when you go back home.princess:

My friend was just raving about the Pal Mickey she used a couple years ago. I definitely want one! She said it would start buzzing here, there, and everywhere, and sometimes just because it knew another PM was close by!

I noticed on another thread that Pal Mickey is being discontinued. I think the thread title is 'pal mickey is Dead?' Too bad, we had a 'Foster Care Pal Mickey" and enjoyed him alot.

We love our Pal Mickey! Will have to check out the thread about if he is dead:confused3 Would truly hate this, as we particularly like dressing him up for the day, appropriately (yellow slicker for rain days, etc)

Pal Mickey has been discontinued. You will still be able to use him in the parks though.

Pal Mickey is fun but heavy to carry around. If you like to travel light, you may not like carrying him.

I have one of the older models. I put a water bottle lanyard around his neck because the belt clip didn't work.

I only carried him into the parks once last trip. He's too heavy to bother most of the time.

OK, so does anyone know if they will keep the technology for the next few years, or do you think they will shut it down since they are discontinuing him? We are going next month, then again next November. The only reason we would purchase him is to use him in the parks.

Also, i see there are older models and newer models mentioned. Are there any differences? What should I look for? I took the suggestion of a previous poster and looked on ebay, and there are several I would consider purchasing, but I don't want to buy one that is not going to give us the fullest effects.

Posted this on the budget board in response to a question about Pal Mickey...

According to wdwmagic http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=360633

As a result of our efforts to evaluate product offerings as technology continues to evolve, Pal Mickey, the interactive plush that was introduced in 2003 for use at the four Walt Disney World® Theme Parks, will be discontinued. Although Pal Mickey will no longer be available for purchase, the interactive plush will continue to operate in the four theme parks as they do today. We anticipate the Pal Mickey plush toy to be available through the next couple months as merchandise locations sell existing items in stock. As merchandise locations sell through their existing stock of the Pal Mickey plush toy, the remaining Pal Mickeys will be available for purchase while supplies last at the following locations:
Island Mercantile at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park
The Dark Room at Disney’s Hollywood Studios™
Epcot Camera Center and MouseGear at Epcot®
Emporium at Magic Kingdom® Park
World of Disney® store at Downtown Disney® Marketplace
