WOW - I just sold my old gold........

I sent my package in to USGB last Thurs and they received it on Fri morning. About 2 hrs ago I received a call from them with my offer of $431.11!

I was happy to not have any of the negative customer service issues that some others have written about when dealing with USGB. The man on the phone was really nice and said that my check would be going right out.

Thanks again to the OP of this thread and to all of you who have shared your experiences selling your gold. This "found" money will go right on the credit card bills (after I buy myself one of those Overland Placer bags that I've been admiring, ;) lol!

I just received my call. $421. I'm happy. My mom... errrr not so much. Many of her pieces were not precious metal. These were the pieces her sister gave her from their mothers estate. She thinks my Aunt kept the real ones! :rolleyes1 :lmao:

That is GREAT.. and fast for them lately....
I have found more gold I am willing to part with... I am fighting with myself on where to send it... I went thru USGB last week and although it was a good experience.. they didn't tell me the break down of what I was getting...and this time I do have a diamond which they told me, to take out cause they will melt it with the gold... BUT Goodfellows will give me a offer with the diamond and without the diamond....

so I am undecided...
To the previous poster... how much did you have for the $431.?

This timeI have about 1/2 what I had before

QUOTE]

I had about 1.2 oz of gold, according to my digital kitchen scale. It was an assortment of broken necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Those were all 14K. There was also a 10K ring with a small sapphire and an 18K dome ring.

I wish I had more to send off. It's really cool getting so much money for stuff that's just been sitting around for years.

Good luck with your next shipment!

Wanted to thank everyone for all their information. I mailed my package to USGB on Thursday, they received it on Friday, and I just got a quote of $741.11! :)

I don't have a postal scale, but I sent in seven thin necklaces, two herringbone bracelets, two gold rings, my class ring, six charms, and seven earrings.

Well I finally sent mine in....

3 necklaces
4 bracelets
11 charms
Charm Holder
4 rings
3 hoop earrings (all missing a pair)
9 little gold earrings (from my childhood)

My estimates put it around $800ish.

Well I just got my call...$671! I'm appauled! I had my estimates in the $800-900 range. Needless to say I'm having it shipped back to me. I think they were lying to me.

They said 2 of my rings weren't gold (I had all the stuff checked out at a local show) and were saying the stones must have thrown off my estimates. We're talking 3 TINY CHIPS of diamonds!

Where did you send yours to? Just curious I plan to try this out soon.

What you estimated did you take in account purity %?

How does one figure purity?

My DWT was 38.9

Taking the 25.75 14K is today (that is what most of the gold was), puts the total at $1001.675!

They offered $671.71 Something ain't right! $329 isn't 10%!

I am not sure but your gold is not 100% pure.. sometimes its only 50%. They have a way to measure it.

I just goggled and found this;
i Assaying gold to determine exact purity is achieved most accurately through fire assay. But this process destroys the tested piece for the determination since the piece is melted and the different metals are separated. A less evasive way to determine gold purity but not as accurate is by using the acid test. This is sold as a kit and is quite reliable in determining whether the piece is gold at all and if it is the approximate purity based on speed of oxidation.

Sent mine on Thursday. They received it on Friday. I got a call today. I'm getting $341!!!! :cool1:

Coool...
does anyone else see a pattern with the $$ they are giving...

341.00 seen that # alot
I was given 671.00 now I am seeing that # alot too.....

My check was for $387 - I fedexed last Monday to Goldfellows, got and accepted the offer Wed and received my check today. Now I am waiting on the second batch I sent which I sent out Friday and they should have gotten today but for some reason has sat at their local Fedex facility since 8am this morning. ugh.. so tomorrow for that one.

I sent mine today! Brought it to Kinko's FedEx around 3 so I think it will go out tomorrow! Wish me luck! I sent 12 charms, 2 bracelets and 2 rings. nothing huge but anything is better then sitting in my jewelry box.

If this was US Gold Buyers, the amount was less because the $25.75 DWT is for between 5 and 50 ounces of 14K gold - you had less than 2 ounces (38.9 DWT is roughly 1.95 ounces) - they say on the site that they pay on a sliding scale for under 5 ounces.

Is it better to send it to Goldfellows if you have less then 5 ounces? Or should I still go with USGB???? :confused3

Well since I didn't get a call yet, and other people who sent their package after mine was received got their call I decided to give them a ring again. They took down my name and # and 3 hours later I STILL haven't heard from them. :sad2:

I went with Goldfellows because of the hassles I read some people on the board having with USGB - some people having to "haggle" etc. USGB does seem to pay a little better, but my experience with Goldfellows went so smoothly and so quickly that I went with them the second time. I was more than satisfied with my payout the first time - it'll be interesting to see what comes with this next one.

I got my gold back from Cash4gold. Now I'm ready to send it out to a "reputable" company. Who should I use! This has been an ongoing saga since March 5th when I originally sent to cahs4gold. NEVER use them.

My package arrived at USGB this morning and they called this afternoon....

Drum roll please.......
