WOW - I just sold my old gold........

Congratulations on your great payout! :) thanks!!! it will come in handy!!!

and, OMG about the mouse head. I'd be dead on the floor next to it!!!!!!!!
I think I had a mini-nervous breakdown!

I know I said I would try to be patient, but I'm pretty much the most impatient person EVER! lol So I called USGB back today at around 2:30 since they said I would hear from them today. Now they said tonight OR MONDAY! :scared1:

Wow! Goldfellows was quick. I mailed Wednesday, it arrived today, and I accepted a settlement of $187. I sent in 4 light chains, a small link bracelet, three little charms, and 3 10k rings. I do feel a little bad getting less than my parents spent on the high school ring I sent in. But my high school memories are so bad, I'd rather have the money. DH is now getting the 16gb iPhone for his birthday!

OK I have my envelope ready to send. Here is my question, can I put it in one of the fedex drop boxes ~ the mailbox type ones or do i need to take it to a FedEx location??! The drop box is about 2 minutes from my house and the *store* is about 15 minutes away...

thanks

Personally, I would either take it to the store or call for a pick-up. You want to have a signature or other immediate confirmation that FedEx has received it.

I called today, too. Got the same spiel. :sad2:

Off to my jeweler to have something worked on so I brought a baggie with gold and ended up getting $600.00 plus no charge for the work he's doing on two rings. So I was a happy camper indeed.

If I hadn't seen it mentioned on here I would have never given it a thought. So "Thanks" to you all.

Debsays-- Could I ask who the jeweler was, and what town they are in? I'm in MA as well and thinking of selling a few pieces of gold. TIA!

Could you share what you sent? I'm debating because I don't feel like I have a tonne of stuff, but haven't gotten to the post office to get an idea of the weight. I have about 5 charms, a charm holder, 2 thin necklaces, and about 5 rings. I'm curious how much they likely weigh/what the payout would be like as I found out that Goldfellow will accept pkgs. from CDN's.

I sent two super thin chains, one small earring, one small charm, one rope bracelet, a thin ankle bracelet, and four rings. All he rings were 10K and fairly lightweight. The rest was 14K. It sounds like you have more stuff than I did. The rope bracelet was the only somewhat substantial piece that I sent. I hope that helps!

Yep that was helpful thanks :)

I was in the same situation. Drop box real close to me but an actual store is 30 minutes away. I just dropped my package in the box. Since it has a barcode to scan, that's all the driver does when the package is picked up. The same exact thing they do at the store.

When you send your packages to US Gold via FedEx can or have you added insurance on the contents?

Trying to get my items ready to ship.

Thanks

According to the FAQ on USGoldBuyers website, you are insured up to $5,000. If you feel you need more, you can get it.

This is what their site says:
Does your carrier insure my shipment against loss?

Yes, our customers are protected with our carriers for up to $5,000.00. However, if you feel that you need additional insurance, please mention it to our representatives so that we can make proper arrangements and additional insurance.

I dropped my USGB package in the FedEx drop box. If you do that, just make sure to keep your top copy of the airbill before you drop your package in the bin!

Well you've all convinced me and now I'm afraid I've missed the boat on the gold prices by about 3 weeks, but I've torn my house apart and gotten everything together and on Monday (or tomorrow if I'm energetic enough to go to FedEx), I'll be shipping out:

19 gold necklaces (mostly 14k)
19 gold bracelets/anklets
39 gold charms and 1 charm holder
20 gold earrings
5 gold rings
3 stick pins
2 gold lockets
2 SS chains
5 SS charms

Keep your fingers crossed for me!! Momma needs some Disney money!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

With the stock market falling like it did this afternoon, the price of gold might just go back up...

After reading all this I am soooo excited!!! I have decided to go with USGB. I requested the package. Here is my question...do they actually send me something or do I package it up myself and send it? I don't have much, so I am hoping for $200.00. Thanks so much for all this info.

Well I finally sent mine in....

3 necklaces
4 bracelets
11 charms
Charm Holder
4 rings
3 hoop earrings (all missing a pair)
9 little gold earrings (from my childhood)

My estimates put it around $800ish.

After reading most of this thread I requested a mailing pack from Goldfellow last week. I gathered up what I had in my jewelery box and am ready to send it in. My one question is this...will we have to claim this as income on our taxes next year if we get over $600? Will these companies be sending out 1099's? Not that I'm particularly expecting that much but just wondering, especially for those that have received very large amounts of money?
