WOW - I just sold my old gold........

I have read many of the post on this thread. Seems more have had much luck with USGB. my concern is I do have a couple of peirces with gemss. One is very big but surrounded by gold. Will they pay for them? Or return them?[/Quote

I would call and ask them. I read they do pay for them over a certain size I think. But the best thing is to call. It may be beneficial to have the gems removed first if they don't pay.

Question...with USGB I thought I saw somewhere that they prefer you use another carrier if your gold doesn't weigh a certain amount. Is this true? I just submitted to get my express pack....but wanted to see about getting it in the mail today if possible since I have a FedEx pickup already scheduled for another package.

And what is the best way to get paid? I don't want a fee imposed....which I think there was with a check?

They have an account with Fed Ex. They provide you with the account number gets put on the paperwork at pick up. They will tell you when you call to schedule that you need to ask for a box and paperwork. I asked about sending through UPS I was told I could do that but I would have to pay for it myself.

I chose to wait for the check, it was sent out the next day and arrived promptly. You can do Pay Pal but PP charges a fee I believe you also can do direct deposit, which I wasn't comfortable giving the bank account info out.

Good luck!

I went to a locale jewerler. My 10K weights about 8-10 DWT and my 14K weighed about 30 DWT. I also noticed he put 2 necklaces marked 14K in the 10K pile. :confused3 He told me with the price up for gold but the $1 not, he could give me maybe about $750. :lmao: So I called USGB and they gave me an estimate on my #'s and told me for the 10k anywhere from $268-$335 and for the 14K $1070. That they would also make me an offer for the gems I sent with some of the peices. Gems i know are not worthed much. So the package was sent Overnight today. I should get an offer tomrrow.

Can I also mentin that USGB did say that Jewereler or Pawn will always be lower. What they won't keep to sell. Guess where they send their un wanted Gold?????

I'll keep you all posted,

Is it okay to use the fed ex cardboard envelopes or does it have to be a box?

Hav you heard anything yet?

Sorry...yes...not so good...about $240
I was hocked it was so low. The chain was quite heavy 14kt and the ring was Black Hills gold...very heavy. Oh well. Better something than nothing

I googled and the price of gold per ounce is currently listed at $1700..what does that mean in terms of what you'll be offered if you were to send a company one ounce of gold?

Price of Gold is up. The $1 is losing value. You will not get $1700 for Gold. What i did was sort out my gold by Kart. Then went into a Jeweler and asked them how much they would give me. I had him weigh it. Then I took my gold and called USGB and they quoted me higher by like $600 more. So I mailed it out. If it's not what i think or want. I won't accept the offer and they will send my Gold back. Now i did send a few items with Gems. They said they might make me an offer and if i don't accept they will send the Gems back to me. Before I did any of this I gave my 13 year old daughter what she wanted. I rather her have my gold then me get money.

Good luck. I do suggest take time to read many of these post. they helped alot.

Yes, the company prefers that you pay for shipping if your metal(s) weighs less than one troy ounce. A good approximation for that weight is to take 6 US quarters, stack them together and that will give you a good idea for what that weight is like. You can also take it to a local metals buyer (At the mall for example, or jeweler) have them weigh it, then go from there.

I sold some gold many months ago and got a little money - not much. Looked through our drawers and we have 2- 14K Herringbone Necklaces and a 1-14K Herringbone Bracelet and another 14K Rope Bracelet. I weighed them on my postage meter at work and all 4 together was 1.2 Oz. Is this accurate or do they weigh them differently? We have not worn these in a long time and just trying to figure out if it would be worth it. Guess, I thought they would weigh more than that??

This is about what my 14k weiged in out. I'm waiting on an offer now. Local people didn't want to give me even $800 for all my 14k and 10k. So I shipped it to USGB. When i chatted with them their prices where better but hundreds. My package just arrived today. They told me i should get an offer by today. I will post what they say.

Good luck

Great. Thanks. Can't wait to hear what you get quoted...

Well I received the call. Im getting much more then the local Jeweler was giving. I will receive a check for $1318.36. Not one piece of this gold have i worn in 2-3 years. So that is found money to me

No, postage meters are not accurate for weighing metals. You can have it weighed by a local metals buyer or Jeweler. Or purchase the correct kind of scale.

what about a men's class ring? do you take the stone out (sapphire) first? do they accept those? Has anyone ever sold one this way? thanks.

I sent a few with small gems. They give you a little money for them. Or they can ship it back. My stones were very small. They were 2 small Sapphires, 1 perdot, and one emerald. My check include most gold and they a few bucks was for the gems. You can also remove it and send just the gold. Its yur choice.
