I'm not being a sore loser...more just honestly curious. At 8:00 am, I tried booking a BWV standard studio at the 11 mos mark. I was able to get the room but by the next screen the initial date was gone and I could only wait list. Wow! That was amazing. Is it simply a bunch of folks like me with fingers on the keypads at the whistle? Is there something I don't know? I know Food and Wine but still! Anyway, hoping people are "walking" reservations and that I'll see light at the end of the tunnel. In the meantime, working on Plan B.

Too many bwv owners who want the few standard view villas for food and wine or Christmas! I have had this happen a few times already since buying bwv points. The good news is that the waitlist has always worked!

Thanks for the optimism!

The BWV standard view studios (and thus also 2BRs) disappear during DVC's high demand season, which runs from late Sep to marathon weekend in Jan, before or right at 8 a.m. at 11 months out about 60% of the time. The issue you had is common during that period in that the winners at 8 a.m. are the ones with the computers that communicate faster with Disney's computer than others. Sometimes, if you keep checking, you can find what you want because walkers pass by, but even then it is usually difficult to get all the consecutive days you want and thus you should put yourself on a wait list early.

As to reasons for the extremely high demand, they are multiple. Disney's creation and expansion of events in the period (Food & Wine, Halloween party, and Christmas events and decorations which now start going up early Nov) is one factor, mostly ideal weather another, and having most of the period in the low adventure and choice point cost seasons still another. The aging DVC population is another in that there is a continuously growing population of aging owners at BWV, which no longer needs to follow school schedules and is picking the fall season because of the lower points, events, and ideal weather, and many of those members are now seeking studios when before they needed 1BRs or 2BRs. Then you have many resale purchasers over the years who have purchased add-on size contracts, e,g., 50-100 points, from original owners who had mutltiple contracts, and then beginning in 2009 Disney slashed the minimum purchase requirements for new purchasers to 100 and at times to 50, and thus it could sell points recovered via ROFR of larger resale contracts in smaller increments to new owners. The net effect of the low point resales and low point new purchaser sales after Disney exercised ROFR was to actually increase the total number of owners at BWV by 1500 since 2008, a large percentage of whom purchased only enough points to get studios and have a high desire to get the cheapest studios in those lower point fall seasons. The 11 month issue for BWV during that fall season has developed in the last six years. Before then it did not exist for BWV except for a small risk otherwise during Christmas week and the first week of Dec (DVC's highest demand week of the year). It has now spread to that 3 1/2 month period from late Sep to marathon weekend in Jan and become a serious risk. The recent remodel of the BWV studios to hold five instead of four will likely make it only worse.

How hard is it to get 2 BR standard view for the week after thanksgiving? Starting either the Sat or Su after thanksgiving.

As drusba stated, that "DVC's highest demand week."

I know it's one of the highest demanded weeks -- but that is all just relative.

What I was trying to find out is how likely a 2 BR will be available right at the 11 month mark. Unfortunately, the points I have were transferred in, so I'll have to call in to make the reservation -- putting me at an hour disadvantage over the online people -- but I was assuming that the 2 BRs don't go as fast as the studios.

Standard studios go the fastest but standard 2 BRs also go very fast. Better chance is for a standard 1 bedroom. All you can do is call right away--or walk the reservation.

Bwv 2 bedrooms are made up of a studio and a 1 bedroom. When the standard view studios are gone, the standard view 2 bedrooms are also gone. Only 1 bedrooms will still be available for booking.

Last year, I tried to book a standard view studio for the 1st week of October and a standard view two bedroom for the 2nd week of December. Online at 8:00 am at exactly the 11 month mark. Missed out on both reservations. They were gone by 8:02.

I did get both reservations by waitlist. You will have a very small chance of booking if you are waiting til member services opens at 9:00 to use transferred points for the 1st week of december. Waitlist will be your best option.

As noted, studios and 2BRs amount to the same thing. Because all 2BRs at BWV are lock-offs, if the studios fill, the 2BRs are also automatically gone, and contrary to what some may believe, they do not hold at the 11 month window any of the 2BR lock-offs just to be reserved as 2BRs, so those booking studios can potentially block out those seeking 2BRs.

Nevertheless, you may actually have a chance for the standard view 2BR (or studio) at 11 months out from the Saturday or Sunday after Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is early next year and that Saturday and Sunday will be Nov 25 and 26 and the extreme first week of Dec rush will not actually begin until Friday, Dec 1. The Saturday may actually give you a little better shot than the Sunday, because many who have Thanksgiving week (another extremely high demand period) leave on the Saturday and majority who want the next week typically want to start on Sunday, but both have a chance of being open. Both Sat, Nov 26, and Sunday, Nov 27, 2016, were open as arrival dates for a week for standard studios and 2BRs at BWV at exactly 11 months well into the afternoons of December 26 and 27, 2015.

The hardest part with walking is getting the very first reservation. You need to get it for exactly 11 months out + your trip length anytime prior to your actual vacation. Then you basically call member services every four or five days and just have them move the reservation forward four or five days and obviously taking out The previous four or five days. You keep doing that until you actually have the reservation dates that you want to.

I just did it and finally got my reservation dates for my week today. I started with a reservation on October 14 and then every four days I would call and we would forward. The hardest part though was it took me about five tries to get that very first reservation

do you remember how long it took for the waitlist to come through?

Nothing underhanded per se. It's part less rooms available due to walking and part speed of using the system. DVD could potentially take rooms out under the table but I'm not concerned that's happening though you never know.

Did you mean that you are NOT concerned about DVD taking rooms out under the table? Hope so. :)

What would you consider it to be if there were a couple of years that Disney CRO had a 2BR concierge villa (or the split of a studio and a 1BR) at AKV to rent during the week of Christmas? It was definitely the DVC villa room. Taking under the table or just getting their allocation to rent out (but I think they'd have to be circumventing the booking system we all use in order to get that villa).
