Wow- did you see this AKV ebay listing?

I don't think this was any more misleading than sellers labeling an item RARE!!1!!11 when it isn't. People who rely solely on ebay listings when making a purchase (without checking around), especially a large purchase, deserve what they get. pirate:

The buyer beware option, true. But "rare" is a judgment where YMMV. Whether a villa is or is not located in the lodge is a black and white answer. It either is or it isn't, the description is either right or wrong. It was wrong, and it has been corrected to be right.

p.s. to the story...

The seller just told me that he changed the wording of the AKV ebay listing on his own, that he eventually agreed with my point about it being misleading the way he originally worded it. He said the only thing that ebay security did was require him to delete the links to the two other Disney sites. In any case, I'm just glad the wording was changed to be clearer.

:magnify: Do you REALLY think that it finally came to him that the wording needed to be changed, or do you think reading it on here convinced him. Hmmm ;)

I didn't give him a link to this thread so he hasn't read it as far as I know. I guess I'd like to believe he changed it on his own, like he said. In any case, it's changed and that's the important thing.

It is a new resort, the Animal Kingdom Villas. I can see your point but I don't agree as it's being presented. Could it be that some are just peeved that it's a rental listing at AKV?

Come on Dean, If I read this I would assume this is a totally seperate building from the Lodge. My first response was " Wow they finished the new building quick. It is misleading.

Ok, I may be totally in the wrong here, but it seems to me that everyone is getting upset over nothing. I'm not a DVC member, but if he misworded and then he fixed it and ebay also took care of it, why keep talking about it?? :confused3

It seems to me that some people like to keep things going when there's no need for it. I'm not saying that you can't express your views, but if there was a problem and it was handled and taken care of by all parties, who is it of us to keep it going and talkin about it?!?!?

That's my two cents about it because that's all that I can afford!!:rotfl: :rotfl2:

Hope I didn't offend anyone, but I just wanted to say what I said.

If I were "untrained" in the DVC process, i.e. a non-owner, I would assume that the ebay ad was for a brand new resort/building. It is very misleading. I would be terribly upset if I purchased this package to find out that it was in fact in the remodeled Lodge rooms. The ad states that it is NOT in the existing Lodge. I love the AKL, dont misunderstand, but if I were a random shopper I would feel "taken" especially since this is not a savanna view with animals roaming outside my window. The ad may very well be considered to be "legit" but it is definately misleading if not a downright attempt to convince the buyer that they are getting something that does not even exist. Just my opinion.

Maybe because it's a DISCUSSION board? Just a guess.

As a frequent Ebay user, I'm all in favor of accuracy. However, in this case, do you really think it was this user's intent to scam people? It seems to me it was a mistake--and one that was corrected. Whether he decided to correct it on his own or because someone else brought it to his attention isn't really the issue.

If during one of my auctions there was an error, I would expect someone to question it, yes. But report it as "fraud" to Ebay???? That's a pretty strong accusation!!!!

To some folks the original listing was misleading. I'm the type of person that researches what I buy---and expect others to do the same, especially something that is pretty easily verified. If a serious bidder came across the listing they could have asked that question and it could/would have been clarified then. I just don't know why you (the OP) had to feel like you had to bust this user by shooting off an email to Ebay and a nasty one to the Ebay user.:confused3 Since he corrected it so quickly, I'm guessing a simple email questioning the building situation would have had the same effect, if it was just poor wording.

And if he gets the $$ for it--who is anyone here to say "boo?" Although, I have to admit--I would never pay that much ($5500) for BCV--but that's me! Obviously, there are people out there who will, considering Disney's rack rates.

Just my 2 cents--the rest is coming with me to HHI next week!:) pirate:

exactly, it had nothing to do with fraud, it was simply misworded. The seller probably assumed that the new DVC rooms where in a new building and once it was pointed out that they werent, he fixed it.

not a huge deal--certainly about as far from fraud as you can get

I've already posted exactly why I reported it and yes, I did believe it to be fraud. My email to the seller was not nasty, IMHO.

Someone bidding on the auciton wouldn't necessarily have known to even ask the question to get a clarification, would they? It was clearly stated that the villa was in the new building, not the lodge.

I don't give two hoots if he gets that much money for the rental. The $ he is charging was never the point.

Wrong. The seller (not the OP, who would be me) insisted his listing WAS accurate. This was his response, remember?

"My listing is right on the money JO
It is considered Animal Kingdom Villas as I that is what my reservation says and that is the time share I bought. It might be in the lodge but it is considered animal kingdom villas.
This is how Disney sells it and they are in phase 1 of 3.
So if you think it's false report me to ebay, call disney, and don't bid on my item but don't waste your time or my eye sight sending me email."

also remember you said he realized, upon receiving your email, that he made a MISTAKE, so he changed the wording, he did not change the listing itself, just the wording

its not fraud--fraud would have to be a deliberate deception, which I dont even think this is close to

He never mentioned Kidani Village by name--that could have been fraud. Like I said he just assumed that because it was dvc it was in a new building never realizing these rooms were in the old building. Once he realized that he changed the wording. Not a big deal at all

Im sure someone out there, if they bid, will be very happy for the work you did getting the listing reworded.

---sorry I of course meant seller, not OP, in the first post.

1st issue which IMHO was the point being raised by the OP the original wording was cloudy at best and deceptive at worst. I am not a DVC owner but I am a reader on these boards and I am aware of the AKV construction schedule. I agree that a person reading the original wording could have been confused and thought they were getting the new building Kidani which DVC has advertised (I have received three postcard - adverts) That part has been corrected on EBAY.

2nd price - IMHO the price is high and I would never pay it (but then I am TS owner because I like 2bdrm villa accomadations and don't like +$300 a night rates. However to be fare to the Ebay seller the disney website shows AKL as unavailable for 12/29-1/2 and only offers Cabins at the campgrounds ($1,732.80) and 2 bedrooms at OKW and SSR ($3,852.12) as available accomadations for 6 or more so while the ebay-seller is charging more than I would pay it is in line with or considerably less than what Disney would charge "equivalent" accomadations for for the same period at this point in time.

IMHO the clarity issue had merit and I applaud the vigilance of the OP

IMHO the price issue does not - if I had to be at Disney and wanted to be on-site for this period with 6 or more people then his price would be reasonable as an alternative to Disneys current price.

ahhhh, new building, old building, same building, different buidling no one buying this probably cares anyway. They are bidding on the dvc room first and foremost not which building it is in. Thats why its not fraud-just a boo boo.

If the listing was for a GV and in reality the room was a studio now thats a problem when 10 or 12 people show up and theres only room for 4. Or if the lsiting was for AKV and in reality the room was at SSR.

I think enough other people have posted in this thread about how irritated they'd have been to rent from this guy only to find out the location was not Kidani but the lodge to indicate you're probably in the minority on that point. People here are picky about the VIEW that they get- I can't imagine that they wouldn't care about building location! :rotfl:

Thank you!

My only point in starting the thread was the misleading ebay listing. While I would not pay that much in cash for the villa, I made no judgement on the seller trying to rent a coveted reservation for big bucks. I have no idea how many points that reservation takes, but I wonder what the $ per point would be? Doesn't really matter, your post just made me curious.

How would Ebay know any specifics well enough to "force" the user to change the listing???? I believe his response to you was nothing more than a reaction to your accusations. He became defensive--I'm sure I would have, too!!! You accused him of fraud, which again, is a serious offense.

Obviously because I GAVE ebay the specifics when I reported the listing including references to disney to show the listing was incorrect as it was.
