WOW...BCV no availability for a 2 bedroom Nov 27 &28

We have been booking Thanksgiving week for years, and have never had a problem. We check in the Saturday before Thanksgiving, and leave the Friday after. This year we are staying until Saturday.

So, around the middle of February, I realized we were in the 11-7 month window. I looked at the calendar to determine when Thanksgiving was. Because we drive, we will leave on Friday. Silly me, I was counting the Fridays. I counted down to the 4th Friday and saw it was Nov 15. I called and booked Nov 16-23. No problem, fully intact reservation. YIPPEE

Fast forward to last week. My boss hands out the holiday schedule for the rest of the year. To my shock and awe, I see it said Thanksgiving Nov. 28. WHAT?? I look at a calendar that actually has the holidays noted, and see that turkey day apparently is Nov 28th this year. Nov. has 5 Fridays but only 4 Thursdays (Note to self, when trying to find the 4th Thursday, don't count the Fridays)

I am not concerned, I know we are still in the 11-month window, so I call and think this will be a piece of cake. I just have to adjust my dates. Well, all the dates are fine except the nights of the 27th and 28th.

I am now waitlisted for those 2 nights, but I am shocked. I have never had a problem with this week before. I know the nights will become available at the 7 month mark, when all the BVC owners switch over the resort they really want to stay in.

Just nervous that WDW is going to be busier than usual this year

Pixie dust to you. Last year we tried to book thanksgiving with beach club and AKL split stay, never could flip it the way we wanted. We booked in the 10 month window.

I'm not all that surprised. Thanksgiving is very popular. You are competing with those who book the entire week and those who want only a long weekend.

As far as crowds go, I think that time is third busiest of the year for the parks - right after Christmas and Easter.

Oh, we've been down there at Thanksgiving. We have missed the past few years because we have cruised, but historically, when we check in the Saturday before, the weekend before is light, and then it gets progressively busier each day until Thanksgiving where you can't move in the parks. We stay out of the parks on T-day, and do a water park on Friday and go home on Saturday, so we don't really feel the crowd.

I'm just surprised that there is already no availability in the 11 month booking window. I have never had a problem before.

I've noticed some changes in booking patterns. It seems that a lot of the people buying resale contracts for the smaller resorts are doing it to reserve something specific and they are very willing and able to book as soon as the 11 month window opens to get it. In addition, there are more & more renters out there who are willing to book at 11 months.

It appears that those of us who own at the smaller resorts are going to have to get used to booking 10-11 months ahead all of the time to get exactly what we want instead of waiting until later in the home resort priority window.
