Wouldn't it be nice to have a DVC resort on the Monorail?

It would be so nice to have a DVC resort on the monrail system. I'd love to see either a new resort or an add on to the GF or Poly or both!

With due respect, and not a statement on your opinion which I respect, I think a monorail DVC resort is one of the most incredibly hare-brained and stupid concepts I have heard and continue to hear. It makes no sense to me given the issues surrounding parking and access that have occurred at other resorts. However, the location is obviously an intriguing one for many people.

Geeez........... lighten up!!! I think converting the south garden wing of the contemporary resort would be great, parking is already available for that wing. A monrail DVC makes perfect sense, your post doesn't.

Besides, when you look at arial views, there's plenty of room.

I can see having a DVC on the monorail, being a huge positive for sales. I know we are saying that we can't buy more points yet, but let me tell you we wouldn't think twice to get a loan, to buy points if they built a villa at Poly! As much as Contemp being great with a better view of MK we don't care for the decor. While Poly makes you feel that you are in a totally different place. Having kids in strollers is a HUGE reason to have a mono at your hotel. With a growing family in tow, I'd buy points at every dvc that had a monorail. :bitelip:

I respectfully disagree.

I don't see how parking should be a deterent to a DVC monorail resort. If abuse becomes a problem, policies can be adjusted to resolve those abuses. I say to Disney...do it!

:sad2: I just thought having a DVC @ a monorail resort would make it so much easier for families or people with disabilities. I'd buy at a monorail resort in a second. It was just a thought.

Sunday at EPCOT DVC booth I was told (as we all have been many times) that AK may get a monorail. "Look for an annoucement soon" he said. I didnt ask if AK would then get a DVC but that would be ideal since busing there is annoying. Heres to hoping and rumors. :cool1:

Seeing as all DVCs have gated parking (correct me if I am wrong) parking would not be an issue like it is at other MR resorts.

Wouldn't having a DVC resort on the monorail interrupt service?....... How would you get the train around it without moving the resort???  :teeth:

Since I feel hare-brained today count me in on one who would buy points at a monorail DVC. Susan

Nope, OKW has parking right outside your door....not gated.

While I probably wouldn't state it the same way, I do agree with the core of Doctor P's idea. A monorail access resort would have NO appeal to me, since I usually don't spend a lot of time at MK. Sure, it might be nice for night life access to some of the resorts on the monorail, but wouldn't be much of a draw for me. My preference would be another OKW type "vacation home" resort like they had planned for Eagle Pines.

I was told, by some higher ups, that there would not be any way to add new construction at the Poly because of the instability of the ground there. When a crane is needed for repair work, they have to float it on a barge because it would sink if placed on the land surrounding the existing resort. That's also why they removed the wave machine.

I was at WDW a few weeks ago and was talking to my guide and she told me that SSR has easement for the monorail. She said she wasn't saying for sure, but it might happen!! Wouldn't that be a great incentative?? :cool1:

None of the DVC resorts have gated parking where only guests staying there can get in. There is a guard gate but they do admit non-guests with a reason to be there (sometimes not a valid one), just like any other WDW resort.

I think that a monorail DVC would be great. However, I also believe that the maint. fees would be really expensive.

Thats why the could be jointly subsidized by a cash resort, like SAB for BCV.

No, I don't really like the monorail. It seems to take FOREVER to actually get to Epcot by the time you ride the monorail and change to the other monorail.

There is an easement at SSR for the monorail? Too bad it will just zip past on its way to AK. If they had a stop there, I think that SSR would become one of the more popular DVCs (probably right behind BCV). That way you get the best of both worlds - quiet and away from the hustle and bustle, but easy access to the parks...

in my opinion SSR will never get a monorail due to the fact it is to close to DTD. it would be over used by people staying off site.

I agree that SSR won't get a monorail, but that isn't the reason. The volume doesn't justify it. I anticipate monorails would be dedicated to connecting major theme parks prior to hooking up a resort which has been sold. AK does seem like the most likely candidate for a monorail prior to any resort.
