I have a small amount of point to use in my 2013 UY at AKL. I know I can bank them, and I have until the end of Jan 2014 to do so. But would you Rent them out or Transfer them to someone if you thought you could not use them??.:scratchin

Have never done this before
Should if I should Rent them out, and at what price??.
Should I Transfer them to another Owner, is there a fee from DVC that I must pay to do this and do I charge a fee(same as rental price??) to an Owner???

Officially, transfer are no cost. Meaning you are not supposed to charge anything for transfers, but members do. So you do not say anything at all to MS about a charge for the transfer.

You don't really "rent out" the points. You could offer them out to one of the brokers to find a renter for you. Then you make the reservation when contacted and notify the renter. You'll get paid half the price when the reservation is made and the other half when the reservation starts (or the last day of the reservation, not sure).

I did a transfer this winter with some points that came with the contract I bought.

It was simple--I put in the request via the Rent/Trade forum. When I got a response, I talked to the other owner and we set the terms (I required full payment via Paypal).

Once it was in my account, he sent me his name, city and member ID. I called MS and just gave them that. I simply said I wanted to transfer points to another member. It was easy and the CM was pleasant.

Once it was done, I emailed the person and told him it was all set!

Didn't take long at all!

Good luck!

If I could bank them i would. Then, use them first for your reservation next year and bank forward any remaining from that use year. Eventually you may decide to get a bigger unit or visit during a more expensive season and those extra points will come in handy. I would never get rid of them unless they were expiring and I was unable to use them before that expiration date.

If you're going in your next UY, I'd bank them and use them later. If you get to where you have more banked than you can use, that's when I'd rent them. I'd only transfer if you foresee having points you can't use or bank in the near future.

I'd also bank them and use them first next year and keep banking like a pp said till you have just too many :rotfl2: (you can never have too many) You don't want to be in a position where you needed only 10 more points to get the place you really wanted.
