would you...

I also say no. Sea World is lot of fun but the drive probably isn’t worth it unless your daughter loves Sesame Street or loves marine life. It’s a fun place but not worth missing Disney time!

I'll add my "No" to this post, for reasons already mentioned.......popcorn::

Is there anyway that you can add another day to the trip so that you can still go to SW but not cut out a day of DL?

We're staying for 8 nights which include 1 Sea World and 1 Legoland day....even with the full 6 days at DL, I was trying to convince my DH that we should skip Legoland for more time at DL! I know it sounds like a lot of time at DL but our youngest is only 1.5 and I know we'll be on baby time. I expect that we'll be moving slow and taking decent breaks at the hotel (HOJO) every day.

If you can't add any days to your overall trip, I would not cut out a DL day to go to sea world....and I'm a big sea world fan. I think you'd feel cheated from the DL experience.

Well, on one hand I do really like Seaworld. The very first time we went, we hated it for a couple hours, then finally decided to see the Pets Rule show, and our whole day turned around. My childfree brother and SIL got passports and go often just for that show on SIL's lunch break (she works in downtown San Diego). We've been a few times since, and really enjoy it.

In fact, our first time there, we went two days to SW, and only one day to DL!

However, we regret that now...just didn't know how big a fans we would become of DLR. :)

My point is, though, we're fans of Seaworld.

But I would NOT cut a day off of such a short trip to do that drive and go to SW then have to do that drive again. My brother learned to drive in Miami FL and he's lived in so cal long enough that he's used to it and doesn't see any problems with the so cal traffic. While Seattle area traffic is weird and people seem to lose their brains routinely on the road...at least we're not going 80+ mph while doing so, like they seem to do on the drive between San Diego and Anaheim. I do not like that drive! I have lived in CA, I drove routinely around Washington DC, I've done the drive between northern VA and northern SC a million times...and I'll drive the beltway 100 times before I want to drive to San Diego again. So just for one day? nope.

Now if you had a longer trip...if you were leaving from San Diego...if you took the Surfliner down and then the Amtrak bus to the SW stop...then I'd consider giving my OK. :flower3:

ALL THAT SAID! If YOU, the adults, want to go to Seaworld, then by all means, DO it. Just don't do it for her (that goes for DLR, too, by the way...my son does have memories still from our trip at 2.5 (the 1 day in DL, 2 SW days) trip, but that trip was for us, not him.).

And check for ticket specials online (on Seaworld's site). Sometimes they have % off a one day, sometimes they have "buy one day get another day", sometimes they have "buy one day get the rest of the year"...so if you might be back in that time, it could be worth it.

When I thought I had to pay the full internet price, I planned for us to spend 1 day at the beach, 4 at Disney, and 1 at Sea World. Since Gray Lines offeres that great deal where the bus ride is free, I was really looking forward to taking my kids to Sea World.

Then Disney offered the pay for 3 - get 5 deal. I am a cheapskate at heart, so I broke it to the boys that we won't be doing Sea World this trip!

To me, it would come down to which is the better value. One thought, though, since your daughter is so young; there aren't a lot of rides at Sea World for little kids. If you'll be okay paying full price just to see the shows, go for it. If not, stick to Disneyland where there is so much for little ones to see and do!

I forgot something I meant to mention!

The arenas there for the shows are in FULL sun. There's just no shade. It's kinda awful. No, really awful.

I've seen people take babies into the "splash zones" and I've seen the babies most definitely NOT like it, so I know that I'd stay out of the splash zones (I do anyway, we have cameras!), and it's just hot hot hot. We've started sitting at the very tip top of the Shamu arena, just so we can try to catch a breeze (sometimes it works). It's the same for the dolphin show and the Pets show (hands down best funniest most truly heartwarming, with no silly nonsense that starts the dolphin show, show at seaworld...in my and my extended family's opinions). Hot.

I vote NO for Seaworld over DL for a short trip with a 2 yr old. But if you are just looking for an injection of "sea life", why not try the Long Beach Aquarium? Much shorter drive than Seaworld and maybe a better fit for the age.

I SO agree! We went last year at the end of September and it was so HOT, full sun everywhere....:cool2:

Oh, and my vote would be not to cut your stay at DLR short.

No.
Unless your DD is infatuated with a particular type of animal that you can see up close and personal at SW. I feel you need three days at DL/DCA to really see and do all that you want. Have a great trip.:)

I completely agree. Our first trip to DL was four nights and it was not enough time! I cannot imagine having only two days. You would have to commando through both parks big time.

In a heartbeat YES! But I'm a huge animal lover. And actually you wouldn't have to make the drive. There is a bus that goes directly to SW and back every day.
