Ever buy a cell phone off Ebay?

I found this phone that I absolutely adore. Problem is, there is NO WAY!!! I will spend almost $200-$300 for it.
I've found it on Ebay for much cheaper, and the seller has gotten all positive feedback from previous auctions.
I would be paying for the phone with my birthday money, as I'd gotten a phone last summer and my mom would be super upset if I asked her to buy me another one.

I'm really skeptical about it and I don't want to be naive.
Am I completely hollow-headed for even considering a phone off Ebay?

make sure the phone doesn't have a contract.
If it has a contract you won't be able to use it for your number.
Also make sure it is compatible wit your phone carrier.
Other than that I'd buy a phone off ebay.

I'm not sure. I'm pretty untrusting when it comes to ebay, so I'll only buy smaller things. I bought some Hercules plates they sold at McDonald's when I was a child and I only had one, so I bought the whole set. I love them, so that worked out great. As for bigger things like phones, I don't know. Even with a positive rating it could be stolen, might not work properly, etc. It's worth a shot though, so if you talk it over with your mom and maybe send a message to the seller for more info it could work.
