would you wear this shirt?

I would ask your husband. Like a couple others, my husband wouldn't wear it because he wouldn't like the attention it would garner for him. Not that he doesn't like to be thanked and all, but he'd want to be spending family time with his family, not shaking hands with strangers all day.

But, for the record, DH wouldn't wear ANY Mickey shirt, nor does he wear any Air Force shirts outside of the gym. ;)

Enjoy your trip!

I'm an Army brat and my Dad would be the same way. I've also seen a little too much negative attention (and in an election year, people seem to put their manners aside with these things), so I would try to keep it more subtle.

My Dad was the Veteran of the Day on his birthday a few years back and my DDs were there to see it (I couldn't come), so they let me listen on the cell phone and one of them video taped it for me. I still BAWL whenever I see it...very moving and I am SO proud of my Dad and his service. It is not to be missed if you can do it.

Hey chaoscent! A few questions...how do I go about ordering these shirts? We aren't leaving until Aug 30 so I have plenty of time and we won't know until probably the beginning of summer if DB and his girlfriend are going. He'll be in Iraq until Aug 10. Also, what happened to the I'm back from Iraq picture? That was one of the shirts I was thinking about! Thanks! :thumbsup2

You can't order the shirts. You can make them though. I did the stitch Mickey so I can alter that if you want. I ended up putting a border around it. Rumbly Tumbly & Wicked Mom75 did some of them. I believe Mickey did some but she isn't designing anymore. I am not sure who did the I am home from Iraq shirt, but feel free to post the question. I took them off the site as I needed the room and I didn't DISsign them.

A very kind Disney person arranged Veteran of the Day for my Nephew. Well I started crying at the beginning of the service and didn't stop until after we marched up Main Street. It is a wonderful, wonderful event. If you can arrange it for your person home from the war or for someone who is a vet, it is well, well worth it. Penny

I like the shirt and it def would not be uncool for your DH to wear it.
And to quote everyone else, tell your DH thanks for serving.

I must also admit, I like your National Anthem so much better than the British one. I am even known to sing along. :rolleyes1

That's because ours is set to the tune of a drnking song. :rotfl:

Seriously, Francis Scott Key totally poached the tune for Star Spangled Banner. The original song is "Anachreon" and it was the song of a British men's drinking club. :)

Thanks Penny!
Like I said we have awhile before we go but I will definitely try to contact you as it gets closer and we know for sure DB is going. I appreciate your help!

If I happen to see your husband or another military member, I would smile and thank God for men and women like him.

Feel free to contact me & have fun collecting DISsigns. :goodvibes

WHERE IT WITH PRIDE!!!...TELL YOUR DH THANK YOU FOR DOING WHAT HE DOES!!

I only have two thoughts:

1. Regardless of whether or not I believe in the war, I will ALWAYS support our servicepeople.

2. Your husband went overseas to serve and protect -- he fought for the right to wear whatever he wants.

Thank you to all of our servicepeople, where ever they might be in the world.

Another DW of a Marine here! There is no way my DH would wear it simply because when he comes home from deployment he wants to decompress... especially on vacation. We just want to blend in with all of the other Disney visitors.

I don't like the fact that Mickey is carrying a weapon of some kind - is it a gun or a police baton? Either way, I don't like an armed Mickey - reminds me too much of the anti-American propaganda out there, it looks very, very similar.
