Would you wear a mask at WDW for incentives?

I have a cute cloth mask. It's holographic glitter teal. I have it in case I am required to wear it somewhere I need to go. I definitely do not need to go to Disney.

I think we're going to see a lot of people throwing up and passing out from suffocating behind a fabric mask in 90-100 degree heat and 95-100% humidity. I'll pass.

I have a trip planned for 11/29-12/6...if masks are still required, I will cancel. I am not spending $7500 to be miserable in a mask all day. I love Disney...but not that much !!

Nope as long as masks are required not going. Recommended I will wait and see if it is a case of other guests are being your putting me in danger or if they are being respectful of others choices. I had points on my grocery store app that needed to be spent by the end of this month. In past months I have tried to redeam my rewards which can be used for various things such as $2 off a bakery purchase of $2 or more, $7 off a meat or seafood purchase of $7 or more, $10 dollars off your purchase of $10 dollars or more, a free 8 oz block or bag of the store brand cheese, a free store brand dozen eggs, a free case of store brand bottled water, a free box of store brand toaster waffles,or a quart of store brand ice cream to name a few at the very end of the month (27-last day) and have had the system get glitchy on me so it is either have to show the cashier that item is basket in the app or if the entire app system is crashed hope that they just give me an equivelency off if I state I have this many points. The items range from costing 1-8 points for each item you want to use your points towards. Anyways I tried explaining to my DH how the app worked and was going to give him my phone. He suggested that I come in with him. While face coverings are not required in that particular store (they are only required in costco and in the one library that is open but limited to 10 people at a time including staff which is 2-3 depending on the day and time) I thought I would try using a double folded bandana to see how I did. I must note here that I can not stand a scarf in the winter over my face even when it is 30 to 40 below without the wind chill, or even a sheet over my face because I feel like I am suffocating and end up panicing and hyperventolating. Part of this is the humidity. We entered the store by the produce department and I did not even make it past the small display of pre packaged vegi and fruit trays before getting to the pre packaged salad bags and bowls when I felt like I was going to pass out and started to breath heavily and rapidly in order to get the air I felt I was not getting. Even though my mind knew I was getting sufficient air my body was feeling like it was suffocating and was fighting accordingly. My husband had to tell me it was not necessary to have one on because the store was not crowded and people in general were staying 6 ft apart in the sections that did not have one way arrows so I felt that I could pull it down to get air. I did try when we were close to others pulling it up but I could not even handle that and eventually just removed it and put it in my pocket when it became untied. Knowing how I reacted I will not be going any place that requires a mask and will even be restricting access to places that it is recommended even with being in an area where most people are being respectful of the choices being made by each person individually or if they are a parent for their children that are not old enough to make their own decisions.
Now before anyone goes pitching a fit here in Montana we are opening up and have been since our stay home orders are lifted on April 25 with churches being able to hold in person services with some restrictions which I won't get into because all the regulations are long and if your not from here it is not going to effect you. (I will explain why shortly) since April 26, some businesses such as retail and hair, nails, massage were able to open starting April 27, resturants were able to open for serving and not just for pick up with restrictions as well such as number of people max at a table, distance between tables, sanitation, must pass a health inspection to assure these conditions were met on May 4, and on May 15 while originally planned for phase 2 gyms, some museums, and indoor theaters (the drive in theater was able to open earlier because people stay in their own cars and only get out to get concessions and use the port a potty bathrooms) were able to open as well provided a number of criteria could be met like in pools for example only one person per lane, only lanes that are 6 ft apart open, members only (no guest passes allowed), areas that are not monitored continuously by staff not allowed to be open so no hot tub, steam room, or sauna in most of them all opened. The gym that I have a membership at has a 45 minute reservation system for both the shallow pool (goes from 3.5 ft to 4.5 ft and is basically a lap pool though some exercise classes are held in there under normal circumstances along with it being the one used for the swim team practices-which has been on hold for a while) or the deep pool for either the shallow end of the deep end in place with a limit of one reservation per day and of course the rules that children under age 12 must be supervised by someone over age 18 in the pool along if a child in that age range has not been tested and pasted a swim test by one of the lifeguards they are considered a Red Band and must be in the shallow end only with a limit of 1 Red Band child per adult not having to be in an approved life jacket. The gyms are not open and most of the exercise classes with the exception of a few of the spin classes are being held in the parking lot where due to limited enrollement each person actually has 13 ft between them and the next person. (Other fitness places in my area are doing the outdoor in the parking lot exercise classes as well and some are even free of charge just asking that you sign up ahead of time and stating that there is a cap on number of attendees).
Some of our numbers here in Montana
March 18 11 cases 2 added that day
March 26 71 cases 1 death occured this day of an elderly male who was being treated prior to getting covid for a disease caused by aspectis (those tiny fibers that make you itch like crazy if you handle insulation found in any home build prior to the early to mid 2000s and after world war 2 is made from this same product and it does the same thing to the lungs (without getting too complicated) that the risk of developing lung cancer is equal to smoking 4 packs a day for 30 plus years even in those who do not smoke. It has come out that the company knew there were risks and did not provide protection to the workers many who are now in their late 50s to even in their 80s now and as a result of many law suits the company has had to provide for their medical care so the tax payers wouldn't have to. The company did decide to try and declare bankrupcy to get out of this but got stopped because the higher up management was going to take a bunch of bonuses and stuff. The last I heard they were trying to appeal that up the chain to the supereme court of the united states. State Stay at home orders would be announced this day to start just after midnight on March 28
March 27 which was the last day prior to staying home or at least on your property because who cares if your running around on a 200 plus acre ranch in the middle of Eastern Montana just no visiting the neighbor a mile away 108 cases 7 people hospitalized. This across 15 of our 56 counties 13 of which had less than 10 cases
March 28 the day our stay at home started 147 cases
April 24 stay at home order ended at midnight and was no longer in effect as of April 25 444 and 445 respectively
May 4 retail businesses, hair salons, massage parlors, and resturants can offer dine in service again with appropriate measures on number of customers at at time, sanitation, and social distancing is in effect. Resturants must closed to the point that all customers have to be out no later than 11:30 PM preventing people from walking in at 11:15 and getting a table to order a 3-5 course meal. This close time also applies to casinos and to bars instead of the normal 2 am close 457 cases with 2 added this day
May 7 schools can open up if their boards choose to though only a handful across the state will do so. All schools that open up have less than 100 students in Kindergarten to Senior Year 456 cases (it was learned that one of the cases in the May 4 count was actually a person traveling through the state and was moved to the appropriate state numbers even though the testing took place in Montana).
May 14 466 cases in the state with 4 new ones 3 of them teenagers in a county where a 20 year old was recently diagnosed. All but 29.43% of this county is taken up by one of two Native American Reseravations and the person in their 20s diagnosed earlier lives in a community on one of the Reservations. Due to overcrowded housing found on many reservations (it is nothing to see people lving in house holds that consist of the grandparents, 2-3 of one parents siblings, the parents of an individual household and everyones children to be sometimes 12-15 plus people in a 3 bedroom 18-24 ft single wide trailer) and how the community and even their family structures are set up it will be interesting to see if these cases are on one of the reservations if the spread can be stopped. The two reservations have extended stay at home orders until May 31 and June 15.
The mayor of the community where the 20 year old was diagnosed has resorted to following people home that are caught going to residents not their own and giving a stern lecture to the person if they are an adult or telling the parents if a minor. I honestly think if this mayor could toss repeat offenders in jail it woud be done but law enforcement on reservations is limited and all criminals are either housed in the county jail or in the jail in a county where one of the federal court houses are located depending on the level of crimes.
The ones held in the federal court house location counties until trial are held temporarily if necessary until the larger county can send someone to transport. A high number of counties with reservations have only 2-3 total law enforcement not counting 1-2 tribal officers and the 1 highway patrol officer that is covering that plus sometimes 2-3 other counties on duty at a time so it is easier to spare someone from a county that has 50-75 officers on at a time depending on how many communities in that county have a city force to transport.

I'll wear it even if they don't ask me to, frankly. But then, that's how my community had been handling things from the outset. I live in an area full of geeks and with a lot of people from cultures where you proactively wear masks if you think there's even a chance you might pass germs along to others. So even before the government recommended we wear masks, a lot of people around here were, and once the recommendations changed it was literally overnight everyone had a mask on. They didn't make it mandatory until last week, and there was no visible change other than the signs in store windows. At this point I'm so used to my mask that it doesn't bother me anymore (it did the first few times I wore it). I usually take it off once I get to my car, but on Friday I was running a bunch of necessary errands and didn't even realize I hadn't taken it off because I'd gotten used to it. So even if Disney were to make it optional/"recommended," I would probably still wear a mask. I see it as my way to make sure I don't accidentally infect anyone else, as well as a step I can take to protect myself.

To the people saying they won't [do x] until there's a vaccine, my concern is that there may not be a vaccine any time soon. We have never cured a coronavirus, have never found a vaccine that works for one, and wanting to be able to cure a disease is not the same thing as having the scientific know-how to do so at that moment. There is an extent to which we may need to start preparing for a new normal, and if my options are "No Disney for 10 years" or "wear a mask at Disney and stand on these markers," I prefer the latter. It's a matter of personal choice, and I don't begrudge anyone making the decisions they need to for their families. If I had people in my family/travel group who were higher-than-average risk, I wouldn't go. I'm likely not going on my usual annual family vacation because it's to a place where no one is wearing masks and they're saying the whole thing is a hoax. I wouldn't feel safe there at this point, with no one distancing or wearing masks or washing their hands or wiping down surfaces, etc. Disney, on the other hand, is tackling this as head-on as they can, which I find more reassuring. My biggest hope is that the CMs are empowered to enforce mask requirements, unlike the policies that have come out of the airlines this week (where you have to wear a mask to board the plane, but once airborn the flight attendants' role is "informative rather than enforcement" and they're supposed to simply "deescalate the situation" if someone refuses to wear their mask). If Disney had a policy that masks were only "recommended" I would be less likely to go than if they were flat-out required and anyone not wearing it for a prolonged period (obviously adjusting it, taking a drink, etc. would be allowed) would be asked to put on their mask or leave.

I have been thinking about the mask/ theme park thing and was wondering if some of those opposed to it would wear a mask if 1)they were cute/ themed and provided free of charge and 2)they rewarded guests who wore the masks with things like extra fast passes, reduced prices at meals, surprise pixie dust types of things. Just curious if that would make those in the "no way" camp to swing over to the "I would do it" camp. Like, would you do it for a couple of no wait lines to ROTR?

that is not how incentives work. if they say we have to wear it to enter, thats the rule.

why? i am just curious.
Because wearing masks and everything else that might be involved (limiting crowds, personal spacing, changes to dining, some types of attractions being closed, etc.) is just not my idea of fun. I don't need to got to Disney bad enough to put up with it. Based on the posts in this thread, I'm not alone in that. I wonder, in fact, if re-opening under those conditions will be viable.

:confused3Will anybody come? For the time being at least, international visitors can't come even if they want to. I've tried to google a little of how it's going in Shanghai and it does seem like the limited capacities are being filled each day so I suppose that means it would also work in the States.

If being considerate of others is an incentive, then yes I would wear one.

I have a trip planned for December. If they tell me to wear a mask, I will be there with bells on and grateful that they're opened.

ok i get it. we will still go because we just want to go. i would imagine the restrictions in place wont be forever.

Yes, I'll wear a mask. We have a September trip planned and I am guessing (based on the rules at DS) that masks will likely be a requirement. I totally respect those that want to wait until it's not a requirement. I see it as this: if your trip to Disney is a once in a lifetime, saving for years to go type of trip then I totally get cancelling if that is the requirement. You would want the full experience. However, my family and I get to Disney pretty frequently so to have these restrictions in place isn't going to kill our trip. We'll go (hopefully) in September with masks and then again and again in the future when masks are no longer required.
