Would you tour a non-recommended park to make a desired ADR?

We will be at disney the week of sept 10. I originally planned to do MK on Tues Sept 13 in the morning (party day) and HS at night.

BUT I just found a 7:30 adr for Rose and Crown for that night. I know patio seating is not guaranteed for illuminations and chances are we'd be inside, but really wanted to go for it anyway- we have not done that before.

However, Epcot is least recommended (Josh) and has evening EMH - we are off site visitors so would not be able to use that and I know that will probably drive the crowds up.

What would YOU do??

Thanks!

Epcot handles crowds pretty well. Rides will be busy, but there is a lot to do there that is not ride based. Your choice if dinner is more important than less crowds. If R&C is on the top of your list, then you need to go for it. No restaurant is on the top of our list, so it would not be a decision.

How many days are you staying?

I would go to MK till 5 or 6 and then go to Epcot, stroll around world showcase till it's time for dinner and leave after Illuminations.

I loved the patio view at the Rose and Crown and would probably do it again.

Yes I was thinking of attractions in MK, pool, then doing WS at night.

Your replies are making me feel better about this change in plans!

Ooooh just realized soft opening of F and W may be that night.

I think that may be the icing on the cake. Or the rum on my dole whip, as the case may be.

Just read on another post that TouringPlans just emailed HUGE changes in their predictions in Dec. and Nov. from 2-3-4 to 8 and 9. How quickly things can change. Up or down. I've given up on the predictors. They are causing huge shifts in people's selections in what weeks to go and are actually reversing the actual attendance. Just go and whatever will be will be!

I'd have no problem because I don't read or follow the crowd calenders and predictions. I go to the park I want to and make the best of the crowd that is there. I've been to parks on the "least recomended" day and it feel empty and at the recomended ones and it be completely swamped. Remembr you and many others now look at those calenders so I think they are going the way of insider tips. Too many people follow thek now.

Every once in a while I'll look at them to see what the fuss is all about and always go to the parks on the days that aren't recommended. No problems but I do have an AP so can hop.

As far as the patio seating goes, just ask nicely when you check in for the patio and tell them you don't mind waiting a bit. It's worked for us at several different restaurants when we wanted specific seating.

Thank you for posting this. I'm the planner, DH would rather go with the flow. He would love this response :)

Exactly. I didn't even know the crowd calendar existed before I joined this forum. Then I went for a 17 day trip. We looked at the crowd calendar out of curiosity, but had already made our plans. We found the crowd calendar to be maybe 50/50. So it really didn't mean much to us. The only thing we really liked was the Lines app. That was wonderful. But yes, I'd absolutely go.
